Since Russia is by far the largest country in the world, it’s only logical that they would have an extensive cuisine full of regional variety, right? Right! If you’re intrigued and want to find out more about Russian food in Paris, you’re in the right place!

Paris is a cosmopolitan city, so finding pretty much any cuisine is possible here! I love the vast choices in Paris when it comes to dining out, and I think you’ll love discovering more about Russian food. So here are some places where you can enjoy a taste of Russia in Paris.

Perhaps the most well-known Russian eatery in Paris is Café Pouchkine. This upscale spot wears many hats: café, restaurant, tea room and pâtisserie! Café Pouchkine was founded in Moscow back in 1999. Ever since they opened a boutique in Paris several years ago, it’s been a favorite with locals and expats alike.

I like this spot because it’s tasty and super convenient, you can either choose to dine in or take away. The takeaway option is especially nice, because you won’t have to wait for a table, and you can pick and choose what you like.  I also suggest trying their homemade piroshkis, or Russian dumplings. And don’t miss out on the desserts, they make incredible pastries. Their Médovic cake is especially famous, flavored with buckwheat honey and milk jam. Definitely worth a try!

If you choose to dine in, you’ll be treated to opulent decor in a true Belle-Epoque, antique style. At tea time, you can expect a classic afternoon tea, complete with mini club sandwiches, delicious piroshkis and delicate cakes. Lunch and dinner options are pretty traditional, they have a selection of fine caviar, smoked salmon blinis, piroshkis, and main dishes like beef stroganoff. Overall, the menu is pretty standard yet well thought-out and makes for a great first introduction to Russian food.

Série Limithée Paris Moscou

I love the authenticity of this place, where you can enjoy a taste of Russia in Paris’ 11th arrondissement. It’s small, no-frills, everything is homemade and the price is right.

Série Limithée is part restaurant part ³Ù°ù²¹¾±³Ù±ð³Ü°ùÌý or delicatessen. If you don’t have time to eat there, all their food is available for takeaway as well as for delivery.

The staff here are super friendly and are happy to explain all of the different regional specialties, and even how the different dishes are made. Everything here is worth a try, and you can be as adventurous as you want to be. I recommend their piroshki plate, it comes with different varieties of dumplings and a generous assortment of sauces and sides.

Bistrot Russe Le Zakouski

It’s in the heart of the 14th arrondissement that you’ll find our next stop for a taste of Russia in Paris. Le Zakouski has been around for decades, and has proudly served up traditional Russian bistro fare since it opened.

The interior is comfortable and cozy, and the food is homemade and affordable. Here you can try some different Russian dishes! For starters, they’ve got  a few traditional options like herring and blini, or eggplant caviar. As for the main dishes, le Zakouski is known for their kotleti which are Russian meatballs, served up with a house sauce and buckwheat kasha.

For dessert, don’t hesitate to try the Russian version of a cheesecake, a Vatrouchka!

Petrossian

Alright caviar fans, this place is your dream come true! Today, caviar is considered a delicacy worldwide, and continues to be a symbol of luxury. After all, a taste of Russia in Paris just wouldn’t be complete without some Petrossian caviar.

In Paris, Petrossian is regarded as an institution. The restaurant was founded in Paris in the 1920’s, and has been thriving among the Parisian elite ever since.

Petrossian’s founder was actually married to the daughter of the largest caviar exporter in Russia at the time. The idea of Petrossian was to introduce the French to the delicacies of Sturgeon caviar.

I’d say they’ve done a pretty good job. Petrossian is a household name in caviar, and is known to be one of the best! Over the years, they’ve expanded now with 4 locations in Paris, and you can purchase online as well. They also serve up excellent smoked salmon, crab and other seafood delights from Russia. Dine in for a truly luxurious Russian meal, or simply head to their boutique to take some goodies home with you.
