Baku museum of miniature books is located in the old part of Baku known as the inner city and began its operations in April 2002. It is also the only museum of miniature books in the entire world.

The museum was also awarded the Guinness Book of Record Certificate as the largest private museum of miniature books in 2015.

The exhibits that are found in the museum were collected progressively for a period of 30 years by Zarifa Salahova. Zarifa Salahova is both the founder and the director of the Baku museum of miniature books. Her massive efforts enabled her to accumulate a total of 6500 books from about 65 countries.

The museum was purposefully opened to promote childhood literacy. It is one of the rare places in the world and one of the best to stop by on a trip to Europe.

1. The Museum Holds the Guinness World Record Title

The magnificent Baku museum of miniature books holds the Guinness World Record Title since the year 2015. The museum has been the largest private museum that contains miniature books since its establishment.

The museum currently contains more than 7000 miniature books that have been published by about 83 nationalities. The museum also has more than 6000 editions in total.

The museum holds very many materials that visitors can read particularly the old editions.

2. It has Many Rare Editions

Baku museum of miniature books is the home of several rare editions in the world. Some of the editions include Barto, Gogol, Chukovsky, and Dostoyevsky.

Chukovsky is one of the rare children鈥檚 poets in the Russian language. Barto was also a popular Soviet poet as well as a children鈥檚 writer.

Most of the editions were collected during the post-revolutionary of Russia as well as the Soviet period.

Some of the works of A.S Pushkin who was a Russian poet and novelist of the Romantic era can also be traced in the museum.

3. It has Expositions from Several Countries Including Famous Azerbaijani Classics

The museum is also home to materials from several countries as well as some of the famous Azerbaijani. Some of the countries include Europe, republics of Middle Asia, Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine as well as Moldavia.

Some of the popular Azerbaijani classics include Fizuli who was a 16th-century thinker and poet who wrote in native Azerbaijani.

Samad Vurgun was also a famous Azerbaijani poet and dramatist.

Mirza Fatali Akhundov is a famous playwright author, philosopher as well as the founder of Azerbaijani modern literary criticism.

4. Visitors can See the Rare Ancient Religious Books

The museum holds some rare religious books which are more than 100 years of age. Some of the ancient editions include the holy book of Islam, a prayer book from the 19th century, and the Quran.

Other books include tale books and books about different countries and cities of the world. There is also a book that consists of songs by the 鈥淏eatles鈥 music group.

In 1672, Koran is the most ancient book which was published in Saudi Arabia.

5. There is a Section of the Country鈥檚 present and Former Presidents

The museum has been divided into different sections which include the soviet era, Baltic countries, the smallest, oldest, children鈥檚, international, and Azerbaijani authors among others.

The Azerbaijani section contains books about the current as well as the former president.

There is a section of miniature that contains books dedicated to the life of Barack Obama as well as Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Turkish Nationalist leader.

6. The Pushkin Category is one of the Outstanding Russian Poets

Pushkin is one of the different sections found in the museum just dedicated to his works. Alexander Pushkin is one of the greatest Russian poets, and playwrights as well as a novelist.

The museum has been a home of several thousands of books which range from macro-mini, miniature, micro-mini to ultra-mini micro. The museum contains the three smallest books in the world which can only be read using a magnifying glass.

The books were published by Toppan Publishing House and they have a size of 2mm by 2mm. The titles of the books are 鈥淏irthstone鈥, 鈥淭he language of flowers鈥 and 鈥淭he signs of the Zodiac鈥.

8. 鈥淭he Most Miraculous Thing鈥 is the Only Book in the Miniature Book Category

鈥淭he Most Miraculous Thing鈥 is the only book in the entire museum that is found in the category of miniature books. The book has a size of 6mm by 9mm and was published in Moscow in the year 1985.

The book has also been translated into four different languages which are; English, Italian, German and French. It holds the different works of Pushkin and Maxim Gorki.

9. The Museum has Three Branches

The museum has a total of three branches namely; Ganja, Shaki, and Nakhchivan which were all authorized by Zarifa Salahova.

Ganja branch was officially opened in 2016 with more than 1045 copies of different books from several countries worldwide.

Shaki branch was opened in 2017 containing 620 published books from 26 countries.

Nakhchivan branch contains about 1000 copies that have been brought from Baku.

10. The Museum is a Major Tourist Attraction Site

The museum is a major tourist attraction site both locally and internationally. It holds the Guinness World Record title as the largest private museum of miniature books which is a source of pride for the country.

The museum also contains some rare materials that cannot be found in any other place attracting several tourists.
