9 Best Spas in Bangkok

Life certainly can seem exhausting sometimes, especially in a humid, tropical SE Asian capital city like Bangkok, Thailand.

Long daily working hours, polluted streets and air, and endless, chaotic, high-volume traffic jams all add up in terms of stress. Without the proper due care and attention then, physical and mental health can soon deteriorate.

But luckily, if you find yourself feeling like there is any chance of this happening to you when you are in Bangkok, then you’ll be pleased to know that there are a whole range of spa and massage services in plentiful supply in Bangkok.

In fact Bangkok would definitely be the place to head for if you had any intention of experiencing a multitude of top spas. You are literally spoilt for choice in the Thai capital, whether a spa novice with a passing interest and limited knowledge, or a seasoned, measured visitor to such establishments.

Seemingly there is a spa on just about every street corner in Bangkok, not to mention in every gym and hotel, which may lead one to wonder how the experience of a head-to-toe rejuvenating treatment may vary between some of these centres in terms of price and quality.

Well with most spas and Thai massages, there are obviously a range of points to consider, and not least of all price, authenticity and location.

From a full-on, full day Spa Package to a 2-hour Thai Traditional Massage, there are spas in Bangkok to suit all. From low-to-medium range (which obviously have much sparser surroundings than the more pricey places), to highly indulgent and downright extravagant high-end pampering, it won’t take too much digging to find a suitable place to restore and revitalise your body and soul.

Authentic spas can be found easily. You are unlikely to see a multitude of young (ish) females seated around the entrance with menus displaying the services, for instance. ‘Nuff said.

You will most likely smell (through the decongesting and relaxing aromas emanating from the place), then detect (as a latent, though very obvious kind of stillness, or deep quiet), before laying eyes on (in that order) any self-respecting spa in Bangkok.

Most therapeutic aromatherapy centres in Bangkok (and anywhere else in Thailand) will have on display all of their certification, validation and qualifications etc., for all to see. And rightly so, not least of all for the fact that the majority of these establishments, it has to be said, are far from on the cheap side.

In fact, don’t be surprised at all by the prices of packages at some of these spas. Authentic quality doesn’t come cheaply, and the majority of the places on the following list rank highly among those on the quest for relaxation, body and mind rejuvenation, or anything in between.

So we haven’t exactly included here any ‘budget’ options, and if anything would probably advise against such endeavours. But we still have a variety of options that will vary, accordingly, by price and service which may or may not be influenced by location.

Relax your mind. Relax your body. Prepare the channels for renewal, by considering some of the best spas in Bangkok.

1. Pañpuri Wellness

Panpuri Wellness is a city-centre wellness sanctuary for those looking to grab some precious and most-needed ‘me’ time.

Smack in the middle of the vibrant district of Ratchaprasong, Panpuri Wellness provides impressive scenery in terms of the Bangkok skyline.
This backdrop elucidates an environment of refinery and wellness, where programs are tailored to your requirements.

Panpuri’s interests lie in addressing 21st century wellness issues, and particularly the ones facing people who live in the cities. Programs and treatments include those based around authentic onsen therapy, and a full range of organic spa treatments.

You can literally lose yourself in the cystal steam rooms at Panpuri, and their ‘experience showers’ which surround you with relaxing acoustics and rejuvenating aromas are amazing on a different level.

The centre offers a range of warm and highly-therapeutic programs and treatments such as the Seven Chakras Harmonising Hot Stone Massage, which is just an ideal way to while away an afternoon.

Panpuri Wellness also offers advice in other wellness-themed areas such as organic cuisine and sleep enrichment programs to help in stress and fatigue management. The impacts from urban pollution seem to be one of the main focal points with many of the cleansing and rejuvenating programs.

2. Dior Prestige La Suite

The Charoen Nakhon region of the city is considered a luxurious quarter of residence, due in no small part to the presence of the ‘iconic’ IconSiam building. Housed in that very building, the contrasting vibe of Dior Prestige La Suite exudes one of a quiet, quaint, cozy luxury.

The atmospheric pull of the Dior is exemplified by its gently-lit, neutral tones shot throughout along pristine white walls with wooden accents.

Admittedly, Dior Prestige is not exactly cheap — but neither is it extortionate in comparison with some of the other best and most popular Bangkok spas. Any attempted list of these could be infinite, btw.

Prices for these spa packages and treatments begin at around 5,000 baht, like the 90-minute Dior Prestige grand facial treatment, which includes back massage before application of the rose extract-based Dior Prestige skincare collection to your facial regions.

Set in the VERY trendy and hi-so IconSiam Centre in Charoen Nakkhon frequented by upwardly-affluent Thais out to look and feel good, this place may provide a welcome retreat when the exhausting and pointless materialistic investigations get too much.

3. Kashikiri Onsen and Spa

How about an onsen spa experience? In Bangkok!

It’s true that onsens are more commonly-found in Japan, but this is by no means one of a few, especially when considering spas from the trendy Thonglor aspect of Bangkok.

Kashikiri’s very Japanese ideal is to ‘nurture and reconnect clients to the reserved Japanese traditional spa, while escaping from the chaos of city life’. Can’t say fairer than that.

All services in this establishment are derived from genuine Japanese spa styles. Service is serene and professional in nature. Guests will experience blissful levels of relaxation in an atmosphere exuding the invigorating allure of nature.

5. Opium Spa

In the fairly central Dusit area of Bangkok, the Opium Spa can be found.

This particular establishment exudes a vibe enthused with that of a secret sanctuary, in that it is imbued with understated, dimmed lights that throw out cascading dark hues and sophisticated Asian-meets-Art Deco accents.

In order to expand more fully the image of a slightly more sophisticated theme, some mention might be made here that the prices in a place like Opium are likely to have doubled, at least, by way of comparison to those of the first venue, Dior.

For upwards of 10,000 baht, you can sample the delights of some of the spa packages on offer at Opium. One such favourite is the Serenity Package, which includes a body balance consisting of salt therapy utilising Himalayan salt and plant essences in an entire body massage. There is also a 15-minute session in a steam room and a full body massage with Serenity oil.

In an establishment like this it is not unheard of for staff to suggest or recommend specific facial treatments based on your requirements and also your experiences with particular products in order to complete the pampering experience.
