Jetsun Pema who was born in 1990 has the Dragon Queen of Bhutan as the wife of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. She is now the world’s youngest queen consort. She and the kings are the parents of Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck and Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, who will likely succeed his father as king of Bhutan.

Jetsun’s Father, Dhondup Gyaltshen is the grandson of Trashigang Dzongpons, Thinely Topgay, and Ugyen Tshering. While her mother Aum Sonam Choki comes from the family of Bumthang Pangtey. It has been one of Bhutan’s oldest noble families.

The second oldest of five siblings is jetsun Pema. She was a student at a number of institutions, including Little Dragon School, Sunshine School, Changangkha Lower Secondary School in Thimphu, St. Joseph’s Convent in Kalimpong, West Bengal, India, and The Lawrence School in Himachal Pradesh, India. She also received a diploma in international relations from Regent’s College in London, along with minors in psychology and art history.

1.  Pema has crowned the Queen of Bhutan at the age of 21

Jetsun Pema, who was 21 years old at the time of her marriage to King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, who was 31 years old at the time, was crowned Queen of Bhutan on October 13, 2011. She becomes the youngest queen in the world on this fortunate occasion.

2. She has received praise as a fashion Icon 

Because of her love of labels and her sense of style, the stunning queen has been recognized as a fashion icon. In Bhutan and elsewhere, she is regarded as the pinnacle of beauty. The clothes Ashi wears have a significant impact on women.

3. Pema has been an advocate for people with disabilities 

Her Majesty also works closely with the government, educational institutions, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that offer services to help people with disabilities live better lives as an advocate for people with disabilities. In addition, she works to give kids access to better healthcare and education.

4. Jetsun Pema has been classified as a commoner by the Royal Secretariat

Jetsun Pema is regarded as a commoner by the royal administration. It appears that Jetsun Pema’s family had long-standing ties to the Bhutanese Royal family even before she got married. Tashingang Dzongpon Thinely Topgay, also known as “Sey Dophola,” was her paternal great-grandfather and the ruler of the eastern province of Tashigang.

Aum Sonam Choki, the wife of Dasho Thinely Namgyal from PangtoeGoemba, Bumthang, and Aum Rinchen from Chorten Nyinpochumbi, is the daughter of Dhondup, a Northpoint School graduate, and Aum Rinchen. They met at Chumey Bumthang. Her father is the half-brother of their late majesties, Mayum Phuntsho Choden and Mayum Pema Dechan, and she served as the goddaughter of His Royal Highness Prince Namgyel Wangchuck.

5. She aspired to become an architect  as a child 

When Jetsun was little, she wanted to be an architect, but as she got older, her interests changed. In the ninth and tenth grades at Lungtenzampa School, she captained the basketball team because she was an avid player. She continued to be interested in the game even after getting married. Pema enjoys music and the arts as well.

6. Jetsun Pema and King Jigme’s story sounds more like a fairy tale romance

The romance between Pema and King Jigme is more akin to a fairy tale. It was reported in 1997 that they both first altered their appearances at a young age while on a family picnic. King Khesar was 17 years old, while Jetsun was just 7 years old. They played all day, and when Jetsun approached Khesar to ask him to marry her, he responded by hugging her.

7. The Queen of Bhutan  embraced her motherhood 

The Royal couple welcomed Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, also known as the Dragon Prince, as their first child on February 5, 2016. The cute Prince, who turned 4 last February, has been winning people’s hearts all around the world.

The country celebrated once again the birth of the second Royal Prince, whose name was disclosed soon, on March 19, 2020, which was on the 25th day of the first month of the Male Iron Rat year.

Jetsun Pema, the current queen of Bhutan, has visited India, Singapore, Japan, the UK, and other countries with her husband on official business. The couple has also made it a point to visit several towns and regions of Bhutan, where they are frequently spotted mingling with locals.

9. She supports numerous causes and is a fervent supporter of environmental issues

The queen is a fervent supporter of environmental causes and has numerous initiatives she champions. She serves as a patron for the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature in Bhutan, which is actively engaged in environmental study and the preservation of threatened species. She is a strong advocate for kids with special needs and a patron of the Ability Bhutan society.

10. In the honor of the Queen Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Mother and Child Hospital was established  to cater to maternal health-related services

Gyaltsen Jetsun Pema Mother and Child Hospital, which has 150 beds, was also constructed in 2015. It was to honor the monarch. In Thimphu, the hospital offers all maternal health-related services. In addition, Queen Jetsun Pema started the first epidural labor analgesia services in Bhutan for expectant mothers who wanted to choose this option for pain relief.
