Palatinus Strnad Baths in Budapest- Author; Fortepan-

The Palatinus (Strand in Hungarian) is one of the most beautiful outdoor baths in the World according to the readers of the British daily, The Guardian

What鈥檚 more, the bath is open all year round since a refurbishment in 2017 added a complete indoor wellness department with the following amenities for visitors to enjoy:

A leisure thermal pool, children鈥檚 pool, two immersion pools (cold water and thermal medicinal water), saunas (steam room, geothermal sauna, Finnish sauna) and from the month of September (when the lido closes), a thermal open-air pool and a swimming pool (26 掳C).

The bath opened in 1919 as a simple beach on the Danube bank then with the construction of the large pool in 1921 it functioned as a bath and lido.

The beach quickly became very popular so an expansion was needed. This was done in 1937. During the reconstruction works after WW II, a vast green area was added to the complex in 1958.

The 5-track slide was constructed in 1980. In 2002, the pools underwent a major modernization and refurbishment that included building water filters and cleaning equipment.

In 2013 further developments were implemented. That is new slides and other adventure elements.

Moreover, the two sides of the main pool area are lined with buffets: fast food places serving basic food and drinks for visitors to enjoy.

A red-marble sepulchre cover surrounded by a wrought-iron grille marks her original resting place and there’s a viewpoint overlooking the ruins.

Wildlife park at Margaret Island- Author; Yoav Dothan-

The petting zoo at Margaret Island, which is sometimes referred to as deer park, has existed since 1950. It has however been part of the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden since 2002.

The petting zoo was in really bad condition and the city of Budapest decided to renovate it in 2002. This is when it was handed over to the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden for operation.

On one half of the territory, you can find a fold for the fallow-deer, where besides the endemic pieces of cervids hares have a place to jump around too.

With this mixture, their aim was to evoke something from the past of Margaret Island, from the age of the medieval chapel and convent gardens and deer parks.

As commonly known in medieval times, this island was known as ‘Insula Leporum,’ meaning the island of rabbits.

On the other half of the petting zoo, Waterfowl and other ornate and colourful birds can be found.
