One of the careers that give a person a chance to be in the limelight is working on television as an anchor or as a show host.

Alex Trebek, born on June 22, 1940, is of celebrated television and media personality. He is a Canadian whose occupation was in television where he was a game show host.

He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1998 and from then he thrived well in television through his programs where he hosted the syndicated general knowledge quiz game show Jeopardy! from its revival till his death.

1. Alex is a Guinness world record holder

You have truly reached a certain pinnacle of excellence when you say that you are in Guinness Book of Records.Trebek commanded iconic Jeopardy!until his death.

The production schedule was consistent where it was aired every weekday at night.Alex Trebek as the host,he never missed except when he switched to ‘wheel of Fortune’ star Pat Sajak as an April Fool’s joke.

Alex hosted his 6,829 episode and the monumental accomplishment earned him a place in Guinness Book of World Records for most game show episode hosted by same presenter.

2.He chased down a thief he caught rummaging through his stuff

Alex visited San Francisco to host the National Geographic World Championship at Google headquarters.

In the wee hours, a 56-year-old woman, Lucinda, broke into Trebek’s hotel room where he had booked an accommodation.The woman tried to make away with cash and a bracelet given to him by his mother.

Alex pursued her on foot,snapping his Achilles tendon in the process.He later described the incident to the audience at the National Geographic Show.

3.He appeared on a 1996 episode of The X-files

On April 12,1996,during the third episode of The X-Files,Alex Trebek made an appearance as one of the original men in Black.

He had a partner by the name Jesse Ventura.Jesse was the first choice of thee episode’s writer and Darin Morgan.

However,Darin was considered to be too controversial to the extent of having another suggestion and it was this time Alex Trebek was ultimately suggested and seemed like a perfect fit for the X-Files episode.

4.He prepared to shoot Jeopardy!without pants

Alex Trebek caught attention of many in 2005.He wore no pants when he briefly appeared and this became the famous ‘Jeopardy! no pants’ episode.

The three contestants;Jesse,Darin and Alex agreed not to wear pants if Trebek did.Alex kept  his promise without hesitating by appearing without pants.

However,the three competitors did not.Alex was not happy about this and he made sure the audience knew what was the plan to erase negative criticism thereafter.

5.Alan Thicke gave Alex Trebek his first job in America

Alan Thicke was a producer on the game show ‘Wizard of odds’ and what can only be chalked up to as one Canadian helping another steal jobs from American game Show host,recommended Trebek for the host gig.

Alex first job in Television was at Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and later after graduation he earned a full time job in radio and television broadcast.

6.He did not give the producer notice of shaving his Mustache

It was in the year2001 when Alex Trebek ultimately and in his consent,decided to pull down mustache.

He did it during middle of the day without telling anyone on the show’s staff that includes his producer.

He had the mustache for over two decades.He shocked the world when he shaved but he grew his beard in few years later and fans went nuts.

7.He wanted to become a priest as he grew up

In his life,Alex Trebek  mostly preferred to be on the television.He knew very well he wanted to be on television one day.

He tried to be a new anchor at Canadian Broadcasting Corporation but eventually morphed into being an iconic television show host.However,at a point or at a time in his life,Alex considered to be a priest.

He took a measurable initiative by spending a summer at the Trappist Monastery.However,taking a silent vow was not his personality and he changed his mind about being a priest by the end of the summer.

8.Once bought a house just to use the tennis court

Alex Trebek,had off-media activities that he took as a hobby.He was so much obsessed with tennis.

From his shows,he wailed in plenty of money through his earnings and he has amassed quite the fortune from all that Jeopardy! money.Celebs and rich people spend their money on ridiculous items and Alex Trebek is not an exception.

He once purchased a mansion so that he could only use the tennis court.It even turned out that controversial baseball star,Pete and Rose his wife rented out the house.Trebek a decent landlord fixed plumbing for the tenants.

9.Takes time to talk time with crowd during commercial breaks

Even after hosting thousands of episodes,Alex Trebek,a social man,he never distanced himself from his fans as he takes time to take questions from the crowd during commercial breaks.

He more so shares what he has spent or eaten over the day with the people or his fans.He feels loyalty from his fans.He noted that fans wanted to know if he is in reality,by the way they perceive him on the television.

They like to know if he is a nice guy,aloof or not.He takes the questions from the crowd and gives  a positive response.

10.Hollywood and Canada walk of fame

Alex who was born in Ontario,Canada enjoyed first taste of fame while working in Canadian Television.He later went to U.S and became a naturalized in 1998.

In 1999,Trebek received a star on the Hollywood walk of fame,near Vincent Price and Ann Margret.It was in the year 2006,when Alex Trebek received a star on Canada’s walk of fame,which was located near the Stars of Eugene Levy and Crazy Canucks.

From records,Alex Trebek is the second game show host to receive a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame.
