1. Rachel Competed in Figure Skating When She Was Young

This American sweetheart was born on 17th November 1978 in London, Ontario in Canada. Her parents are Lance and Sandra McAdams, a truck driver and a nurse respectively. She grew up in a protestant household. 

She is the oldest in her family. Her younger sister Kaylen is a make-up artist while her brother Daniel is a personal fitness trainer. 

When she was four, Rachel began competitive figure skating. She topped most competitions, winning regional awards until she was 18 years.  

Her spare time was occupied by art class, volleyball, ballet, soccer, gymnastics, piano, tennis, swing dancing, and etiquette. 

2. She Won a Kissing Award in 2005

At the 2005 Movie Award Gala, Rachel got nominated for five awards in the same year for her spectacular performance in 鈥楾he Notebook鈥� and 鈥楳ean Girls.鈥�  

Rachel won the Best Kiss category in the MTV Movie Awards for a kiss with her fellow Canadian actor Ryan Gosling in the romantic drama The Notebook.  

When receiving the award, she and Ryan recreated the famous scene making fans go crazy.  

3. Rachel Was Inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2014

Rachel McAdams was inducted into Canada鈥檚 walk of fame for her accomplishments as 鈥淥ne of Hollywood鈥檚 most sought-after and respected actors.鈥� 

The event was held in Toronto鈥檚 downtown Sony center in October 2014. Rachel attended the event wearing a stunning black and white gown in the company of her parents. She said she was over the moon to receive her star.  

4. She at One Time Dated Ryan Gosling

McAdams has dated former co-star Ryan Gosling and has also been involved with actor Michael Sheen and director Jamie Linden among others. 

McAdams and Gosling started dating after working together on the movie 鈥楾he Notebook.鈥� They went on a date and started a high-profile relationship that did not last. 

Since 2016, Rachel has been dating American screenwriter Jamie Linden and had her first child with him, a son born in 2018.

Rachel does not own a car but instead takes the bus or rides her bike whenever possible. She also lives in a house powered by renewable energy in Toronto, Canada.

In 2007, she launched an earth-conscious website called Green is Sexy, which provided environmental conservation tips and information on how individuals can minimize their carbon footprint.  

In 2005, Rachel also assisted with the clean-up mission in Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina and participated in several environmental protests. She was also in Canada for the Haiti telethon after an earthquake hit Haiti in 2010.  

In 2013, she filmed a promotional video for the Food and Water First Movement to preserve Ontario鈥檚 farmland and freshwater supply. Additionally, she narrated a documentary on the impact of military and industrial noise on marine life. 

6. Her Fitness Secret is Staying Physically Active

McAdams grew up playing volleyball, soccer, and badminton. She likes stretching her body every morning through the comprehensive kundalini yoga, which combines physical activities, mantras, meditation, and breathing exercises.  

She also enjoys rock climbing and swimming, which is part of a health and fitness regimen. McAdams revealed another of her secrets in keeping her weight in check when she said, 鈥淩unning through airports with pounds of luggage 鈥� that鈥檚 a good workout.鈥�

7. She Prefers Acting as the Villain

Rachel had initially auditioned for the part of the show鈥檚 nice girl and main character, while Lindsay Logan had auditioned for Regina- the mean girl. Rachel had also been told she was too old for the role. 

The director switched up their roles because he thought both actresses were better suited for the other鈥檚 role. Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried also starred in the movie.  

RMTV awarded Rachel for an impeccable role in the movie. Rachel was 25 when filming the movie, where she acted as a high school student, while Lindsay Logan was eight years younger than her during filming.  

Surprisingly, Rachel was seven years younger than Amy Poehler, who acted as her mother in the award-winning movie. The famous movie is still rented, streamed, and played on cable television to date. 

8. She Took a Sabbatical to Find Herself

In 2006, Rachel took a break from acting and the glaring public eye to be by herself and reflect on what she wanted to focus on in her life and career.  

In an interview, she said, 鈥淭here were a lot of cooks in the kitchen, a lot of voices around me, and I wanted to step away so I could hear my voice again.鈥� 

During this period, she turned down leading roles in high-profile movies such as Casino Royale (2006), Mission Impossible 3 (2006), The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Iron Man (2008), and Get Smart (2008).  

After the break, she returned to her film career in 2008. 

9. She Does Not Act Scenes That Require Her to be Naked

It is not uncommon to see actors and actresses pose nude for a photo shoot for art or fashion. However, in Vanity Fair鈥檚 March 2006 Hollywood issue, McAdams stormed out of a cover shoot after learning that it would involve nudity.  

Her publicist had not informed her she would be posing nude and was then fired. Interestingly, the cover became Vanity Fair鈥檚 most controversial issue in a long time. 

10. She is Allergic to Horse Hair

Rachel is seriously allergic to horse hair. To score a role in 鈥楾o the Wonder’, she did not reveal her horse hair allergy because she did not want to miss the opportunity.  

When the time to film the scene with the horses came, Rachel got a bad allergic reaction causing her eyes to swell up until she could not see.
