Jackson Wang was born on March 28, 1994, in Kowloon Tong, British Hong Kong. He is a singer, rapper, dancer, and fencer from Hong Kong. He grew up in Sha Tin District, New Territories. He is the son of Wang Ruiji, a former member of China’s national fencing team and an Asian Games gold medalist and Sophia Chow, a former acrobatics gymnast from Shanghai.

He is a member of the South Korean group GOT7, which was launched on January 16, 2014, under JYP Entertainment. Before joining GOT7, he was a former national fencer. He started pursuing the sport of fencing at the age of 10 with help of his father and assistance from master coaches training him.

Jackson comes from an athletic family. When he was 10 years old, he began pursuing the sport of fencing. His father, Wang Ruiji, a former member of China’s national fencing team and a gold medalist in fencing helped him in training. He allowed him to prepare and at 16 years old he became a junior Olympic Level saber fencer.

He even won first place at the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship in 2011. However, he was offered a sports scholarship from Stanford University in 2011, which he turned down to pursue a musical career. Wang has a passion for singing and he followed his dreams.

2. He was Part of a Parody Project Group Called Big Byung

Jackson was one of the members of a parody project group called Big Byung. The group was created by Jeong Hyeong-Don and Defconn. The members of the group included Jackson Wang (GOT7), Sungjae (BTOB) and Hyuk (VIXX).

 Wang is a fashion designer and he serves as creative director and lead designer in Team Wang Design. The Team Wang Design is his and he launched it in July 2020. It is a lifestyle and streetwear apparel line that took three years in making.

Jackson’s design store features in bringing very simple things, and sport-inspired pieces, the star’s collection goes beyond typical celebrity merch with exclusive drops and specially designed pieces.

Among 2000 participants, his audition earned him 1^st place. He was eager to pursue his dreams but his parents were not in support or convinced about him being a singer. To convince his parents, he won two gold medals in his fencing competition at the Asian International competition.
