OK I am SO NOT a fan of animation, but, it’s time to embrace your inner child with a 5-star experience. 88 minutes of great fun reminiscent of the first time seeing Aladdin or any other animated comedy.

Mummies, released by Warner Brothers who are more famous for big live-action films, is a fabulous English-language Spanish computer-animated comedy film directed by Juan Jesús García Galocha in his feature film directorial debut and what a wonderful debut it is!

Hang in there as the movie starts with an unnerving stereotype of women’s roles in life which is very uncomfortable, at least for me, but then starts to rock and roll into a fun ride that follows three mummies on their journey to present-day London. It has everything – a really menacing baddie bad and his bumbling henchmen, a boomerang-wielding kid and of course a pair of ill-fated lovers.

Of course, a movie of this ilk is always better with some kid-friendly candy like Sour Patch Kids and a tub of popcorn along with a 6-year-old grandson providing commentary! Silly? Yes! Charming? Yes! Can’t think of a better way to while away a rainy day.
