Eva Galle Green, is a French model and actress. She began her career in theater as the daughter of actress Marlène Jobert. She made her film debut in Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Dreamers.

Eva Green rose to international prominence as Sibylla, Queen of Jerusalem, in Ridley Scott’s historical epic Kingdom of Heaven. The following year, she received the BAFTA Rising Star Award for her performance as Bond girl Vesper Lynd in the James Bond film Casino Royale.

Green has since appeared in a number of independent films. She stared as Artemisia in the 300 sequel. Green is also well-known for her roles in Tim Burton’s films, including Angelique Bouchard in the horror comedy Dark Shadows.

She was nominated for a César Award for Best Actress for her performance as an astronaut mother in the drama film Proxima.

1. Eva Green has a twin

Eva Galle Green was born on July 6, 1980, two minutes before her fraternal twin sister, Joy.  She is the daughter of actress and author Marlène Jobert and dental surgeon and occasional actor Walter Green.

Her father is of Breton and Swedish descent, and she is the great-granddaughter of composer Paul Le Flem through him.

2. Eva Green, grew up in France

Green grew up in France and attended the American University of Paris, an English-language university.  As a child, she moved back and forth between London and Ireland.

She was quiet in school and became interested in Egyptology after visiting the Louvre at the age of seven. Green decided to become an actress at the age of 14 after seeing Isabelle Adjani in The Story of Adele H.

Her mother initially worried that an acting career would be too much for her sensitive daughter, but she eventually came around and supported her daughter’s ambitions.

3. Eva Green studied drama in London

Green continued her studies at the Cours Eva Saint Paul in Paris and attended the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Green then returned to Paris, where she appeared in several plays.

She stated that in drama school, she “always chose the really evil roles” because “it’s a great way to deal with your everyday emotions.” 

4. The beginning of Eva Green’s career

Green made her film debut in 2002, when director Bernardo Bertolucci cast her in the role of Isabelle in The Dreamers (2003), which required her to perform extensive full-frontal and rear nude scenes, as well as graphic sex scenes.

She told The Guardian that her agent and parents begged her not to take the role, fearing that it would “have the same destiny as Maria Schneider,”referring to Schneider’s traumatic experience while filming Bertolucci’s Last Tango in Paris. 

Eva Green stated that under Bertolucci’s direction, she felt at ease while filming the nude and sex scenes, but was embarrassed when her family saw the finished product.

5. Eva Green, likes low budget movies

Eva Green carefully selects her roles. She prefers to play characters who change the fate of other people and reality because the typical figures in movies are sufficient.

The actress enjoys low-budget films. Eva Green co-starred in the 2007 fantasy film “Franklyn” with Sam Riley and Ryan Philippe. Eva played two characters at the same time. Tracey Emin is a crazy and exhausted woman, and Mary Poppins is a clever and cheerful woman.

Eva Green’s widespread acclaim as an actress stemmed from ‘Casino Royale,’ for which she received both a BAFTA and an Empire Award. They were both voted for by the public.

She was nominated for 73rd Golden Globe Awards in the category of Best Actress in a Television Series; Drama for her role as Vanessa Ives in ‘Penny Dreadful.‘ Green received nominations for ‘The Dreamers,’ ‘Kingdom of Heaven,’ ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,’ and ‘Proxima.’

As a model, she has worked with world-famous brands such as Christian Dior, Lancôme, and Emporio Armani. Eva appeared in a commercial for Dior Midnight Poison.

Her magnetic gaze, raven’s wing hair color, and the mystery of the image always attract fashion houses for new shoots.

9. Eva’s name is Swedish

Eva’s surname isn’t English. The word is actually Swedish for “tree branch.” Eva Green, interestingly, does not speak Swedish.

You’d be surprised to learn that, despite her extensive involvement in the film industry, Green is a homebody who avoids parties and clubs. She admitted that her favorite way to unwind is to read a book while enjoying a glass of wine by the fire.

The actress enjoys things like dancing and traveling. She is also a fitness enthusiast who enjoys spending time at the gym.

10. Eva Green has featured in a video game

Quantum of Solace is a first-person shooter video game released in 2008 based on the films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. The game was the first James Bond video game published by Activision, who acquired the Bond license from EA in 2006.

It was developed by Treyarch for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PC, Eurocom for the PlayStation 2, and Vicarious Visions for the Nintendo DS. It was also the first game to feature Daniel Craig’s voice and Eva Green.

10. Eva Green’s television career

Green made her television acting debut in the first season of Starz’s historical fantasy series “Camelot” in 2011.

Morgan Pendragon, King Uther’s beautiful and aggressively ambitious daughter, was played by her. Green landed a bigger role in 2014. She started playing powerful medium Vanessa Ives on the Showtime horror series “Penny Dreadful.”

She was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama for her performance. Green’s next television role was as Lydia Wells in the BBC miniseries “The Luminaries,” based on Eleanor Catton’s novel.

Green was set to co-star with Vincent Cassel in the Apple TV+ series “Liaison” in 2021.
