Robert was an American serial killer who committed five murders while working as a truck driver. It is also believed that his victim count may be higher than the five known to law enforcement authorities. His first known murder was in 1997 when he killed Dadren Lewis after he got into an altercation with him. He was arrested and charged with manslaughter but released in 2004. He then came a got a job as a truck driver and in 2015 he committed a series of murders one of them being his cousin named Jerry.

Robert’s blood and saliva were collected for testing during the investigation that followed. Rembert was connected to two crimes: the murder of Rita May Payne, 47, who was murdered in Cleveland in May 1997, and the beating and rape of Kimberly Hall, 31, who was found dead on June 10 of that same year. Both crimes were connected to Rembert based on the findings of a comprehensive DNA profiling test. He was put on trial and found guilty of the murders and thus sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 30 years. His case highlighted how serial killers who are truck drivers can fly under the radar easily as they flee the scene of crime therefore making it hard for them to be identified.

These series of murders that happened between 1972 and 1992 were dubbed the redhead killings and are one of the scariest serial killer cases because the perpetrator of these crimes was never identified. The killer targeted redhead women as his victims across different parts of the country which include Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Arkansas. Bodies of at least six women were found dumped along the highway during this period with most of them being sex workers and hitchhikers. The crimes were suspected to have been performed by a truck driver because of their varied locations.

This was a Minnesota truck driver known as Timothy Jay Vageades who was popularly known as the Vampire trucker. The serial killer would kidnap his victims and keep them in a torture room which he called Twilight Express that was located in his truck. The deranged killer would wear fangs and also force his victims to wear fangs as well hence the nickname. He would later chip the victim’s teeth to the shape of fangs. He would keep his victims in the room in his truck for months, tormenting, and assaulting them both sexually and physically while he traversed the country with his truck. He was finally apprehended when he was stopped at a motor vehicle inspection when law enforcement authorities noticed that his passenger had bruises. He was sentenced to 20 years and is now serving his sentence in prison.

Ford’s case is one of the most bizarre cases that law enforcement authorities have ever encountered. Long-distance trucker Wayne Adam Ford quietly entered the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office in Eureka, California, in November 1998 and handed the officials a woman’s severed breast. He startled the authorities even more when he admitted to perhaps killing more than four women between 1997 and 1998.

Ford frequently picked up young hitchhikers and offered to give them a lift in his truck where he would proceed to kill them and keep their bodies. Then, after keeping the bodies for a few days before disposing of them, he would rape and kill them in his truck. He confessed to his transgressions claiming that God told him to do so. After his arrest, he was charged with murder and given the death sentence.

Edward Surrat

This serial killer was active on the highways of Ohio and Pennsylvania in 1977 and 1978. The killer would break into people’s homes, mostly people living as couples along the highway shoot the man and then proceed to sexually assault the woman and then later kill her. He was finally apprehended in 1978 after he sexually assaulted a woman and her daughter while the husband of the woman watched bound to a chair. Law enforcement authorities suspected that he was involved in 18 other murders and in 2007 he finally confessed to six unsolved killings that had happened in the Ohio area at the time that he was active.
