Stephanie Poetri Dougharty, born 20th May 2000, is an Indonesian singer-songwriter and record producer. She is currently signed under the record label, 88rising
She was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, to an Indonesian mother, Titi Dwi Jayati, and an American father, Andrew Dougharty.
She was raised in her hometown Jakarta and grew up with 2 half-sisters and a half-brother from her mother’s side.

1. Stephanie’s first major work started in 2015
Poetri’s first major work came in 2015 when she, along with another artist by the name of Goodbye Felicia, performed a cover of “Bimbang” for the Indonesian teen film ‘Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?’
2. Her first major breakthrough as an artist was in 2019
Poetri’s breakthrough as an artist came with the release of her single, “I Love You 3000,” on 3 June 2019.
She revealed that inspiration for the song came from an Instagram Q&A with her followers, along with the release of Avengers: Endgame which happened a week before the Q&A.
The song amassed over 425 million streams online, topping Spotify’s Global Viral 50 for over 4 weeks.
The same year, she again released her debut single titled “Appreciate.” She released two versions of the song; one in Indonesian and one in English.
Her success in singing and songwriting will placed her on the map of pop culture in Indonesia and soon, her career started off well.
3. Has gotten awards for her works
A remix of her song that brought her popularity, titled, “I Love You 3000 II”, which featured Got7 member Jackson Wang resulted in her winning “Best New Asian Artist – Indonesia” at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards.
It was released on 88rising’s Head in the Clouds II album, hitting the Billboard social charts in China. The pair also collaborated to create a music video, garnering over 12 million views on YouTube.
4. Stephanie has continued to make progress in her music career
In February 2020, Poetri released two new singles, titled “Do You Love Me” and “Touch.” Both music videos have a combined view count of over 10 million on YouTube.
Poetri has come to describe her songs as “anti-romance” songs, saying “In my opinion, the songs have a little bit more depth and they’re less storyline-based, but still very much a kind of story that some people can relate to.”
In April 2020, Poetri released a single titled “Straight To You.” Speaking on the music video, Poetri stated “I decided to do a fun project where I used a green screen to make a video at home since we couldn’t really shoot a full-on production during this time. I got very into it and made a full music video all by myself in my room and edited it really intensely over 48 hours!”
In December 2020, Poetri released her single “Selfish.” It was the first and only single to be released from her debut EP AM: PM.
5. Poetri’s work has been inspired by many popular artists
Stephanie has admitted t having gotten musical inspiration from artists such as Alec Benjamin, Finneas, Jeremy Zucker, and fellow 88rising artist NIKI.
She also recently said in an interview that she enjoys listening t music from some of her favourite groups like Blackpink, Got7, and TWICE.
6. She attended Global Jaya School in Indonesia
The Global Jaya School, shortly known as GJS is an International School in Indonesia, located on the outskirts of Jakarta in Pondok Aren district, South Tangerang in Indonesia.
The school was established in 1995. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.
Poetri studied here for her high school education before later on joining a local college and then proceeding to fully focus on music after her blowup in 2019.
7. At one point the TV Show, Sherlock Holmes, almost convinced her to change career paths
In her own words, Stephanie admitted that, “I watched Sherlock Holmes and it made me want to learn psychology at one point, and I almost went to uni for psychology.“
I guess she’s not the only one in this one because the mysteries of Sherlock Holmes are pretty interesting and captivating.
8. Poetri is a very empathetic person
Stephanie Poetri describes herself as an empathetic person with an ability to just empathize with someone else regardless of whether or not she knows them.
This is what has helped her be able to write some relatable and emotional songs over time.
In an interview, she said that, ” I‘d like to think I‘m a very empathetic person, hence why I‘m so emotional all the time. I could be super sad because of someone else‘s situation that has no effect over mine. It does help when I write music though, ‘cause it allows me to feel certain emotions without having to go through them myself.“
9. Her dream vacation is to visit Europe
In a recent Q & A session done for Stephanie, she said that she would really love to visit Europe someday as she has never been there before.
The destination is, therefore, one of the things on her bucket list, that she would definitely hope to achieve someday.
10. Stephanie Poetri isn’t a collector
Much to her admittance, Poetri isn’t much of a collector of anything. She says she just doesn’t have the patience and passion for it.
Her own words on the subject matter are: “I‘ve only ever tried collecting Polaroid pictures, and even then I only got like five pics before I started losing them.“
