Luna is also a YouTube star who is recognized for having played a variety of roles in several shows and movies as well as for her contributions to the entertainment industry as a musician.

1. Luna鈥檚 Mum is Australian 

Luna Maya Sugeng is of mixed race (White and Asian). She was born on 26th August 1983 in Denpasar, Bali in Indonesia where she grew up.  

Luna鈥檚 father, Uut Bambang Sugeng, is of Javanese descent while her mother, Desa Maya Waltraud Maiyer, is from Austria. She has two brothers Tipi Jabrik and Ismael Dully. 

She is an alumnus of Paramadina University located in South Jakarta, Indonesia. In 1998, when she was 15 years old, Luna won a modeling contest in Aneka Yess! Magazine. The following year she was the number 3 cover girl of the magazine.

When she was a Teenage, Luna moved to Jakarta to pursue her modeling and acting career. Her fame skyrocketed when she became a presenter in the TV variety show, Dahsyat.    

Luna鈥檚 career journey began as a model. Then she got her first acting job in a supporting role as an antagonist in the film 30 Hari Mencari Cinta (2004). She exceeded expectations and was praised for her performance.    

She appeared in the film Cinta Silver with Rima Melati and Catherine Wilson. Luna also starred in Ruang, Jakarta Undercover, and Pesan Dari Surga. In 2008, she appeared in In the Name of Love, directed by Rudy Soedjarwo.  

Together with Dewi Sandra and Sandra Dewi, Luna sang the Indonesian theme song for Euro 2008, titled “Play”.

8. She Was Involved In a Sex Scandal 

When Luna Was dating Nazril Irham (Ariel), a lead singer of the Indonesian pop group Peterpan, he posted a pornographic video that featured the couple and Cut Tari, another actress, on the internet.  

For this, Ariel was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison in January 2011. Luna and the other actress were both declared suspects but were not brought to trial. In 2018, South Jakarta District Court upheld the ongoing suspect status of the two women. 

Luna lost her contract to advertise Lux soap as a result of the scandal.

Besides being active in showbiz, Luna has several business enterprises. She is the owner of the Luna Habit fashion line and also owns Macama restaurant.  

Luna is also the managing partner of Member. id, a digital marketing platform plus the skincare and cosmetic company, Nama Beauty. Her beauty company received 5 million U.S Dollars as seed capital, the funding was led by AC Ventures.
