1 Tsutomu Miyazaki

The serial killer was famously known as the Little Girl Murderer or the Otaku Murderer. He was active in Japan in the late 1980s up to the early 1990s. he started his murder spree in 1988 where he kidnapped, sexually assaulted and then proceeded to kill four young girls who were between four years and seven years. He committed acts of necrophilia and mutilation after every homicide. Sadistic atrocities committed by Miyazaki horrified the country and made him famous.

In 1989, Miyazaki was eventually caught after he tried to abduct another female. Police discovered a number of gruesome and upsetting recordings and pictures he had recorded of his victims when they arrested him. He was found guilty and given the death penalty in 1997. He remained on death row for years until being hanged on June 17, 2008.

2 Fotushi Matsunaga and Junko Ogata

This duo was a notorious couple who were famed for being among the most notorious serial killers to ever exist in Japan. This duo was active in the 1990s and they are responsible for several murders that happened during this period. They were not specific with their targets in that their victims ranged from small children to adults. The two would torture their victims for long periods before finally killing them. They were finally apprehended in 1996 after one of their victims escaped and reported them to law enforcement authorities. The couple were sentenced to death for the horrifying crimes that they had committed. Furthermore, their case brought into light the problems that the public was facing and the response that the criminal justice system had.

3 Hiroshi Maeue

He was also known as the Suicide Website Murderer. The serial killer who was active in the early 2000s earned this moniker because he would pose in online platforms as a person looking for a suicide partner and when someone responded to him, he would take them to remote places and then proceed to strangle them to death. His modus operandi ws quite unique and bizzarre. He was finally apprehended in 2005 when he left pieces of evidence that led to him being identified. He confessed to the killings and he was sentenced to death after being found guilty. Hiroshi was executed in 2009 in Japan.

4 Gen Sekine

The Japanese serial killer wreaked havoc in the 1970s when he was active. His acts were particularly cruel and horrifying since he preyed on young women, enticing them into his clutches before brutally assaulting and killing them. The town was shaken by Sekine’s activities, which caused dread and panic, and the police were under intense pressure to apprehend him.

In 1977, Sekine was eventually captured and brought to court, ending his reign of terror. 5 Hiroaki Hidaka

This serial killer who was active in the Osaka Region of Japan in the late 1990s was popularly known as the Osaka Ripper. The murders that he committed were characterized by a lot of violence and brutality that often involved the mutilation of his victims. The serial killer would target women and then proceed to perform gruesome acts on them. His crimes caused a lot of fear and that led to a manhunt that involved different law enforcement agencies to be launched. Hiroaki was finally arrested in 1997 and charged with several counts of murder. He was found guilty of the charges and sentenced to death in 1997.

6 Miyuki Ishikawa

The serial killer who was popularly known as the Demon Midwife was active in the 1940s and she worked as a nurse. She was a nurse at Kotobuki Maternity Hospital and was responsible for the deaths of many babies and infants by giving them lethal potassium chloride injections, a practice she justified as a method to relieve the financial burden on parents in trying times.

When a worrying number of newborn deaths at the hospital were documented in 1948, her crimes became public knowledge. Miyuki Ishikawa was detained after an inquiry turned out the horrifying reality. During her trial, she admitted to the killings while displaying little sorrow and defending herself by calling what she did “mercy killing.” Miyuki Ishikawa was finally found guilty of her crimes and received a shockingly brief sentence of just eight years in jail given the gravity of her deeds.

7 Seisaku Nakamura

This serial killer was active in Japan in the 1940s up to the 1950s. his motivation for the matters was for financial gain in that he would kill people with his targets mostly consisting of family, relatives, friends and acquaintances so that he would collect the insurance payouts. He would kill his victims by poisoning them or creating deliberate accidents so that they would die. He was able to go undetected for so long which is quite chilling. Nakamura was later apprehended and charged with the murders. He was found guilty and sentenced to death.

8 Yoshio Kodaira

This serial killer was active from 1946 up to 1952. His victims were women and he would lure his victims into secluded areas where he proceeded to sexually assault them before killing them. Kodaira’s deft ability to avoid capture for a protracted length of time set him different from many other serial killers. It was challenging for law enforcement authorities to find him since he regularly altered his appearance and used multiple names. But when he was apprehended in 1952. After being found guilty on several charges of murder, Kodaira received the death penalty.

9 Mamoru Takuma

He is one of the serial killers whose crimes left irreparable damage to the people of Japan. This is because he is the killer responsible for the Osaka School Massacre which happened on 8th June 2001. On this day, this killer stormed into an elementary school in Osaka with a knife and went on a murder spree that led to the death of eight children and many others were injured. He was arrested and charged with the murders. In 2003, Takuma was sentenced to death and he was later executed in 2004.

10 Masaru Ueno

He was also known as the Saitama Serial Killer. Masaru was active in the 1990s and during this time, he was responsible for a series of murders. He would get his victims from nightclubs and bars where he would lure them into isolated places and then proceed to assault them and then finally kill them. He was finally arrested in 1996 and put on trial for the murders. He was found guilty and sentenced to death in 2000.
