Oswald Mosley was born in 1896 in London, England. He is one of the most feared people in Britain鈥檚 history for being a fascist. He was known to support Nazism which embraced racism.

Mosley was violent and made friendships with dictators like Benito Mussolini of Italy and Adolf Hitler of Germany. Due to his belief in political powers, he founded the British Union of Fascists (BUF) in 1932. This movement lasted for eight years.

He became the leader of the Union Movement that succeeded BUF in 1948 until he died in 1980 in Paris, France. There are many astounding facts about Mosley. The following list shows the ten most astounding facts about Oswald.

1. Oswald Mosley is one of the youngest members of Parliament in Britain鈥檚 History

Oswald became one of the youngest members of the British parliament in 1918, where he served until 1924. He was 21 years old and had little political experience after higher education.

 Oswald was a Conservative candidate when he decided to get into politics in the 1918 general elections. With little opposition, he made it to the House of Commons very young. He was a reckoned force by the government and the general public.

2. He was the founder of the British Union of Fascists

In 1932, Mosley founded the British Union of Fascists. This idea erupted when Mosley visited Mussolini.

He was convinced that fascism had many merits and that it would help advance the economy of Britain. At its foundation, the party had more than 50 000 supporters.

This included the press media (The Daily Mirror and The Daily Mail supported the movement). Mosley was good at public speaking and was able to rally many people. With time, BUF began losing its reputation due to the violence and brutality caused at rallies by Mosley鈥檚 bodyguards (Fascist Defense Force).

3. Oswald Mosley contributed to the birth of the Battle of Cable Street

During rallies, Oswald鈥檚 troops caused lots of violence which annoyed many people. In the wake of 1936, BUF was celebrating its fourth anniversary and organized for the crowds to match through Salmon Lane, Stafford, Victoria Park Square, and Aske Street.

These were regions filled with British Jews and other anti-Fascists. They opposed the march due to violence and laid several roadblocks to stop the event from happening. As a result, there was a big clash between the Fascists and anti-Fascists. The clash led to what people referred to as the Battle of Cable Street.

Mosley supported dictatorship forms of government. He was a great friend of Hitler and Mussolini and even visited them often.

The second world war was against fascism, which Oswald greatly supported. Even after the second world war, he tried to revive BUF, renaming it the Union Movement.

His love for dictatorship made him deny that the Holocaust, which had seen more than twelve (12) million Jews and approximately 15 million other civilians murdered, never existed. He was unrepentant in defending Hitler

Goebbels was the minister of propaganda under Hitler鈥檚 regime. Hitler, Mosley, and Diana were all fascists and supported the oppression of the people to show control.

6. He participated in elections twice, trying to win votes as a Member of Parliament

Despite his bad reputation with BUF, Oswald participated in elections twice. In 1959, he tried to run for the Kensington MP seat but lost. Seven years later (1966), he ran again for the Shoreditch MP seat.

He received very minimal votes. The political climate in the post-war had made many people dislike his rule, which was dominated by fascism.

He had formulated policies that discriminated against other races, intermarriages, and interactions. These policies adversely and greatly impacted people from the Caribbean regions.

7. Oswald Mosley was very unfaithful

Mosley was very unfaithful to his Lady Cynthia Curzon. He never valued family and relationships. Even after their marriage in 1920, he went as far as taking her two sisters, Alexandra and Irene.

He also took Grace, who was her stepmother. Mosley did not show respect to Cynthia鈥檚 family. He was not a loving husband. His attention to Cynthia shifted shortly after marriage.

8. He was a Propagandistic

With the aid of his supporters, Sir Oswald spread propaganda news to the people. He wanted everyone to see that fascism was the right way to go. He extended his support to the Nazi regime that supported racism.

Like the Nazi policies, other races like the Jews and Blacks were considered inferior. His dress code of the streetfighters, who were known as the blackshirts, symbolized the Nazi regime. They participated in notorious violent practices against the anti-fascists while spreading propaganda.

9. Oswald Mosley was a great writer

Oswald wrote several books inspired by his noble upbringing, education, and political career. Most of his writings focus on the politics of Europe (especially England).

Some of the most known books include 鈥淗istory of the Castle, Priory, and the town of Tutbury, in the county of Stafford.鈥 This book narrates numerous historical events in Britain鈥檚 politics.

For instance, events that took place in the House of Commons, Britain Parliament, and the entire history of the Castle.

10. He was a great warrior

Oswald fought in many wars involving the British troops. In 1914, he was in the Royal Military College, where he learned most of his techniques.

However, he got expelled due to a riotous act of retaliation against a fellow student. Later, he got commissioned to the British Cavalry Unit during World War One.

Where he was on the Western Front in France. Later, he was transferred to work as an observer for the Royal Flying Corps. This is where he crushed and got a limp that permanently affected him.
