Where to Find Vegan Ice Cream in London

Even vegans eat ice cream! What, you hadn’t heard?

Cruelty free ice cream is the latest and greatest crazy to sweep through London Town, with almost every major gelateria adding at least one dairy free option to their menu.

Sorbets have been unintentionally vegan-friendly for a long time, but the people want creamy, smooth, real ice cream… and this is where you can find some.

Udderlicious Ice Cream in London

The name of this ice cream shop is probably enough to make all vegans run in the opposite direction. If they didn’t have one of the most impressive dairy free ice cream selections they wouldn’t be top of this list.

Everything in Udderlicious is homemade and they aren’t afraid to experiment with strange flavors. This is equally true for the vegan range; though I stick to the dark chocolate sea salt every time.

A scoop will cost about £3.20. They have vegan-friendly cones available upon request.

If the weather is good you can expect there to be a line out the door. Worth the wait, I promise!

Snowflake Luxury Gelato in London

Never heard of luxury ice cream before? You clearly have yet to do a guided walking tour through Soho.

Ice cream takes a whole new form at Snowlake. There are over fifty flavors in store at any given time, and a decent amount of them are always dairy free.

Snowflake ice cream is made with all natural ingredients and as little sugar as possible. They are incredibly light treats, which is why the parlor offers a range of add-ons like brownies, waffles, puddings and milkshakes to combine with your scoops.

One scoop will cost you £3.70. It’s steep, but it’s Soho.

Yorica! in London

Staying in Soho, we now head up to Yorica! where vegans can order anything on the menu as there is absolutely no dairy used here at all.

This ice cream shop makes everything using rice milk. It’s quite remarkable what they are doing in terms of flavor and creaminess, so much so that unknowing customers refuse to believe they have just eaten vegan ice cream.

Their banoffee is what brings the crowds. Thick, fluffy scoops topped with dripping caramel? Sold.

Yorica! are sensitive to people with Celiacs; the entire store and menu is gluten free, even the crepes! The only other allergic risk in the parlor would be a few flavors that contain nuts, but these are clearly marked.

Darlish Ice Cream in London

Darlish popped up not long ago in Covent Garden, and they make a variety of Middle Eastern inspired ice creams.

Expect flavors like halva and tahini, baklava and saffron rose. It’s on par with luxury ice cream in my opinion, it’s a flavor journey and exploration of cuisines.

They always have a handful of vegan options available; all of which are made using thick coconut milk.

Something interesting (and utterly phenomenal) that they offer is a baklava ice cream sandwich. Your choice of ice cream sandwiched between two slices of naturally vegan baklava — see you there?

Chin Chin Labs in London

If you are in Camden Town for the weekly market or a guided walking tour, Chin Chin Labs is an absolute must visit!

Another ice cream parlor with more vegan options that you can fathom. The staff will happily let you taste any and all of them (if you so desire) just to get you to narrow your choice down to one or two.

What makes things even sweeter are the portions. Their small scoops are massive and more than enough for a hearty treat. Then you are presented with the holy grail of topping options, many of which are also vegan friendly.

On days when they have vegan cookies, vegan ice cream sandwiches are an option.

Jefferson’s Ice Cream in London

As far as ice cream history goes, not many people know that is was Thomas Jefferson who brought the first ever vanilla ice cream recipe home with him to the United States after his visit to France.

This parlor is named after him, and as a commemoration there are always three different types of vanilla ice cream available in store.

Their vegan option are ever changing but always wonderful. One can also do an ice cream sandwich between one of their vegan brioche buns.

Personally I always get the chocolate topped with honeycomb.
