Malta might not be the #1 tourist hot spot for nightclubs and all-nighters, especially when compared to the European likes of Ibiza. However, if you are headed to Malta for a nice weekend getaway, weekend vacation, or month-long holiday, then surely you will find yourself in the mood to go out for at least a few nights!

Malta is home to various ultra attractions, historical buildings, great food, friendly people, unbelievable weather, and blue waters. What more could you want? Maybe a few drinks at night. If so, check out the best clubs and nightlife on this tiny island to make your holiday even more exciting.

First off — where should you stay? If you are considering heading into Malta as a solo traveler or a young group of friends ready to party, basing yourself in St. Julian’s, Rabat, or St. Paul’s Bay can be your best bet. For a more relaxed pub/wine bar vibe, try Valletta, Birgu, and Mdina.

However, our party animals should check out this top 1-0 list to see the best hotspots for a Friday or Saturday night — and every night in between!

Havana

Havana — the ever-popular beach club and nightclub name that you can find on every island or beach city. The Havana here has earned its name, boasting six bars, two dance floors, a wide range of musical offerings, and great vibes that will keep you going all night long. Plus, budget travelers can rejoice — free entrance here means no exorbitant cover charge that can burn a hole in your wallet!

Sky Club Malta

This is THE place to go if you are staying in St. Julian’s. Known as Malta’s largest indoor club, great for chillier nights and for dancing your heart out, this club can hold a whopping 3,000+ people — meaning your personal space on the dance floor will never be encroached. Bust the moves, check out one of the local concerts, and stay here all night long.

TwentyTwo

Are you in the mood for something a bit more sophisticated? Tired of partying with 21-year-olds? If so, head to TwentyTwo, a classier venue that has beautiful views and a more mature crowd (not too mature, don’t worry).

Bridge Bar

Located in Valletta, this popular venue is very popular during the summer months when the weather gets warmer, the sun stays out longer, and the tourists arrive. The Bridge Bar is home to some of the best local talent in the area, bringing in those who have lived on the island for years and tourists who are fresh off the plane. Head Here for good vibes and stick around for one of the summer concerts!

Cafe del Mar Malta

Located in Bugibba and Qawra, this is definitely the most popular club in the area. Outside of St. Julian’s, this is one of the best nightclub offerings for great music, seaside views, and a relaxed vibe that combines a chilled-out bar with a busting club.

Gianpula Village

We love this concept — an open-air village that has numerous summer events, concerts, and clubbing events on the weekend. Instead of going to a stuffy indoor venue, head here for the best party of the summer.

Uno Malta

Located at Ta’ Qali Crafts Village, this club boasts the largest dance floor on the entire island. Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to move! Had her for an all-day and all-night party, cutting the rug with locals and getting a feel for how the Maltese people really party.

Birgufest

Not necessarily a club, but Birgufest cannot be missed. Held every year in October, this is just outside of tourist season — making it a more authentic and exciting experience. Head to Valletta and Birgu to check out museums and restaurants and open their doors to an open-air club/dance experience that takes over the entire city.

Footloose

Located in St. Julian’s, Footloose is one of the best spots in Paceville to get drinks, dance, and listen to club music. If you are in the mood for a ‘traditional’ club experience, this is the best place to go to forget all of your worries. With a dimly lit interior, consistent crowds, and upbeat music, tourists will love the simplicity of this club.

Gianpula Main Room

Last but not least, we have Gianpula Main Room, a hopping nightclub that arguably has the best disco on the island! Located at Gianpula Village, this club comes to life Friday and Saturday between 9 pm and 1 am for late-night tunes, an open-air venue during the summer months, and constant events.
