1. Singh is Born to Indian Parents

He was born on February 20, 1999, in Auckland, New Zealand. Singh’s parents were born in India and his extended family belongs there. He had a brother and a sister who belonged to the Asia ethnicity.

Singh, his mother, and his siblings are Christian, and his extended family is Sikh and hails from the northern Punjab region of India. He now holds New Zealand nationality and even represents the team at the international level.

2. Sarpreet Singh is New Zealand Professional Footballer

He is a well-known professional footballer. Singh plays as an attacking midfielder for the Wellington Phoenix but was often deployed as a deep-lying playmaker or winger for Bayern Munich II.

He is left-footed and acted as the primary playmaker for the Phoenix under Mark Rudah during the 2018-2019 A League season.

Singh has a nimble gait and quick turn of pace, alongside exceptional vision and creativity for his age. He has earned comparisons to German attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil.

Singh played for a local club Onehunga Sports, under the tutelage of long-term mentor Hiroshi Miyazawa.

When he was ten, he competed for Auckland at the Australian National Futsal Championships. Singh won the most valuable player award and attracted interest from Premier League side Everton.

4. Singhs Signed for Wellington Phoenix Academy in 2015

He joined Wellington Phoenix Academy in early 2015 after impressing the Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick while playing for the New Zealand under-17 side at the OFC U-17 Championship.

Singh started his senior footballing career later that year, being placed into Wellington’s reserve team in the New Zealand Football Championship at the age of 16. He made twelve appearances in the 2015 season and moved for an A-League match against Perth Glory on February 7, 2016, where he remained an unused substitute.

He gained a constituent role in the Wellington Phoenix first team midway through the 2017-2018 A-League season, making several substitute appearances. Singh was placed in the starting lineup for the first time on February 17, 2018, after a minor injury of one player.

Singh finished the 2018-2019 season as the second highest goal scorer at the club behind Andrija Kaluderovic. He had only appeared in eleven games.

In 2019-2018, he was in the starting lineup under new coach Mark Rudan, playing 26 games. He scored five goals and registered a team-high eight assists.

5. He Plays for New Zealand National Team

Singh earned his first senior national team for a friendly match against Canada on March 24 in Murcia. His first international appearance for the New Zealand national team came at the under-17 level. He was named to the 20-man squad for the 2015 OFC U-17 Championship. 

He played for New Zealand at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup but was knocked out by the United States in round 16. Singh scored his first goal for New Zealand on June 2, 2018, against Kenya in the 2018 Intercontinental Cup.

In the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, he also competed for New Zealand, being knocked out by Colombia in the round of 16 penalty shootouts following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

6. Singh Was Signed to Bayern Munich in 2019

While playing for New Zealand, Singh impressed Bayern Munich scouts during the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup. On July 1, 2019, he signed a three-year deal with Bayern Munich and was immediately assigned to their reserve team Bayern Munich II, who play in the 3. Liga.

He made his friendly debut for the reserve side on July 6, 2019, with the opening goal as Bayern Munich II defeated LC Liefering 2-1. Singh played for the senior team eleven days later.

Singh scored his first goal for Bayern Munich II against Unterhaching in a 1-2 loss. He started his first game for Bayern Munich on July 31, playing the full match and scoring in a penalty shoot-out loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the 2019 Audi Cup final.

While at the reserves, he scored five goals and made four assists; he was then promoted to train with the first team. He made his Bundesliga debut in the senior team on December 14, 2019, and became the first New Zealander to play in the Bundesliga.

After the club had acquired the Bundesliga title, Singh made his first start for Bayern Munich on June 20, 2020, against SC Freiburg.

7. In 2020, Singh Joined FC Nurnberg

Singh joined 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Nurnberg on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich on August 7, 2020. He played for the first time for the club playing 63 minutes in a game against RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal.

On September 19, 2020, he made his first league start for the club against Jahn Regensburg. Singh played a dozen games for Nurnberg, of which he started six times before he cut his loan short and returned to Bayern Munich.

8. Currently, Singh Plays for Jahn Regensburg

On July 6, 2021, he joined 2. Bundesliga side SSV Jahn Regensburg on a season-long loan. His loan was renewed by Bayern Munich for the 2022 to 2023 season at SSV Jahn Regensburg, playing as an attacking midfielder.

9. Singh Became the First Indian Origin Player to Feature for FC Bayern Munich

In 2018, when a young New Zealand side came to India to participate in the Intercontinental Cup, Indian football fans were curious about one name: Sarpreet Singh.

During the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Singh impressed Bayern Munich and was later announced to have signed a deal with Bayern on July 1, 2019. He became the first Indian to play for Fc Bayern Munich.

Singh keeps his relationship confidential, especially his relationship matters. He seems to be a very reserved person.
