Skyscanner, the flight search engine platform, has recently launched a new tool that can help travellers save big on flight tickets. Named the Savings Generator, the tool is designed to identify the optimal times to book and select the cheapest day of the week to travel, all based on previous data on flight prices.

According to Jemma Porter of Skyscanner, “19 per cent of people think that the cost of flights is the most important consideration when booking a trip. So, we’re putting our data to good use by helping you find the best time to book.”

The tool takes into account various factors such as destination, month of travel, and historical average prices. For instance, the best time to book a flight from London to New York in July is 51 weeks in advance, while from Edinburgh to New York, you’ll ideally want to book your trip 40 weeks before departure.

With the Savings Generator, travellers can determine the average price for a route and know if they’re paying a typical price for their ticket. The tool also highlights the cheapest and most expensive days of the week to fly on a selected route in each month of the year and how far in advance one should book.

Skyscanner’s new platform makes it easier for many travellers to save money on their next trip. By helping them find the best possible fare prices, the Savings Generator ensures that travellers can enjoy their journey without breaking the bank.
