Get ready for a different ride! This summer, Prague’s trams are changing routes because of repair work. Starting June 2024, over 25 tram lines will be affected. These changes will last until early September, with some continuing even longer. The city is fixing tram tracks and doing maintenance in important areas. This work is needed to keep Prague’s trams running safely and smoothly. The main spots being fixed are:

1. Wenceslas Square (upper part)
2. Andel area
3. Strossmayerovo namesti to Vystaviste stretch

“We know these changes will be a bit tricky for everyone,” said Jana Novak from the Prague Public Transport Company. “But this work is important for the future of our city’s transport.”

How Will It Affect You?

Many popular tram lines will have new routes. For example:

– Tram 1 will now end at Vystaviste instead of its usual stop

–  Making extra stops at Narodni divadlo and Lazarska is Tram 5 

– Tram 21 won’t run at all this summer

New Bus Lines to the Rescue

To help people get around, the city is adding some temporary bus lines. Look out for buses X25, X35, and X94. These will cover areas where trams can’t go.

Don’t worry about getting lost! The transport company will have helpers at stops to guide you. They’ll wear bright vests so you can spot them easily. There will also be maps and info sheets in trams and at stops.

What’s Next?

While most work will finish by early September, some projects will take longer. The upper part of Wenceslas Square, for instance, won’t be done until October 1.

Remember, these changes are temporary. Once the work is finished, Prague will have an even better tram system for locals and visitors alike!
