Balmoral Castle, the Scottish residence of the British royal family, will open its doors to the public for the first time in its history. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore parts of the castle that have never been accessible to the public before.

The tours will take visitors on a historical journey through several of the magnificent rooms within the castle, providing an insight into the origins of the castle and how it has been enjoyed by generations of the royal family. According to the Balmoral Castle website, the tours are the first since the castle was completed in 1855.

The tickets for the tour are available for purchase . The castle interior tour is priced at £100 or £150, including afternoon tea, and is limited to 40 tickets per day. Guided tours, restricted to 10 people per group, will be available from July 1 to August 4.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the beautiful gardens and grounds, exhibitions, and an audio tour available in English with Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish translations. There will also be a collection of outfits worn by members of the royal family on display, as well as a watercolour collection depicting scenery at Balmoral, Highgrove, and Sandringham.

The castle facilities will be open daily from 10 am until 5 pm, with the last recommended admissions at 4 pm. The meeting point for the castle’s internal guided tour is in the Port Cochere, at the front of the castle. Visitors are advised to arrive at least 20 minutes before the entry time printed on their ticket, as security checks are required for this tour.

Parking for this special tour is provided by the Estates Office, and visitors are encouraged to drive up to the Main Gates, where the staff on duty will provide directions. At the admissions desk, visitors can collect their audio guide handsets, which must be returned to the Mews Gift Shop at the end of the visit.

The tour promises to be an exciting and unique opportunity for visitors to experience the history and beauty of Balmoral Castle, a much-loved and celebrated Highland home of the royal family. Tickets are already selling fast, and visitors are encouraged to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
