Chaka Khan’s dynamic vocal range, charismatic stage presence, and of course, iconic musical creations have earned her the well-deserved ‘Queen of Funk’ title. The ‘I’m Every Woman’ anthem maker has indeed come a long way in a five decade long career, which she will be celebrating this Friday, the 14th of June 2024 at the Royal Festival Hall. Khan is the curator of the 2024 Meltdown Festival, and this concert will be part of ‘Chaka Kahn’s Meltdown Royal Festival Hall Gigs.’

Starting off her career in the early 1970s with the funk band Rufus, Khan quickly gained fame with hits like ‘Ain’t Nobody’ (1983) and ‘Tell me Something Good’ (1974).  Her solo career took off in 1978, with her debut album ‘Chaka’. The album’s ‘I’m Every Woman’ track rose to anthem status, and the rest is history. Khan has won ten Grammys, sold over 90 million records and had an undeniable impact on a generation of artists. In 2023, she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, solidifying her iconic status in the world of music.

Friday’s concert is a celebration of her legendary career, featuring top hits and an unforgettable evening of nostalgia. Khan will be joined by English DJ and presenter, Trevor Nelson.

Tickets are available on the Southbank Centre and its authorized agents from £ 60 with concession discounts. The approximate run time is three hours. The age recommended for the concert is 14+, and those under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
