Barkley thinks Victor Wembanyama鈥檚 skinny problem could be solved

Victor Wembanyama’s reputation in basketball is spreading like wildfire and it is only a matter of days before he finally joins the NBA where his spotlight will shine even brighter.

Wembanyama has been getting compliments from everyone around the globe and thanks to his exceptional talent and prowess he has amassed fans along the way.

Magic Johnson has called him the best player, LeBron James has called him an Alien and so much more praise from already established legends in the game.

His praise does not come in vain, Wembanyama, who is 7 ‘4 ” tall and with an 8-foot wingspan, is more colossal than he is human. His unique playing style and talent have made him stand out.

Despite his height, he has a quick first step and great ball-handling abilities that enable him to outrun the defence and make his shot. He can shoot beyond the three-point line with ease and fluidity.

Due to his length and mobility, he is also an excellent rim protector and a force to be reckoned with in passing lanes when playing defence.

But even with all these, there are a few doubtful who have not bought the Wembanyama idea yet. One such individual who does not believe in the hype Wembanyama is getting is none other than Charles Barkley.

It has become a norm now for the 1993 NBA MVP to randomly throw shade at Victor Wembanyama as seen by how Charles Barkley’s strong comments were directed at Victor who Sir Charles claimed is not NBA-ready.

Alongside Kenny Smith on Inside the NBA Charles Barkley had this to say about Wembanyama: 鈥淓verybody wants this kid to look like he鈥檚 great, but you really can鈥檛 tell until he gets to the NBA.鈥�

Charles Barkley also known as Chuck has a longstanding beef with the city of San Antonio and its women and in his latest jab he dragged Wembanyama along with it.

After the San Antonio Spurs beat the Indiana Pacers, Charles could not control his running gag and here鈥檚 how he joked about it, 鈥淚’ll tell you what, Victor Wembanyama will be great in San Antonio. If he goes to San Antonio, he’ll definitely gain some weight,” Barkley said on NBA On TNT.

“He won’t have to worry about being skinny down there. He won’t have to worry about being skinny in San Antonio. Hey, Victor, go to San Antonio, they’ll put some weight on you.鈥�

This shade against the Spurs came about since the San Antonio-based team is a contender in landing the first overall pick in the upcoming draft. The San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and Detroit Pistons have the worst regular-season records and each has a 14% chance of selecting first overall.

Victor Wembanyama is well-known for his towering body and height but he is really thin for someone of his height. This might be what inspired Barkley to reuse the old, well-known joke.

Perhaps it will be a blessing in disguise if the Spurs get to choose Wembanyama come June 22, 2023, during draft day. If all goes according to plan, Wembanyama will join the Spurs, and the fans will be able to breathe easier as he will be set to lead them back to their victory days.
