When visiting Barcelona, we typically seek out iconic sights like the Sagrada Familia, the Gothic Quarter, and the magnificent beaches.

However, there was one circus show that left audiences awestruck for more than 19 years across the globe – the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil.

The world’s largest producer of contemporary circus, Cirque du Soleil, which premiered in Barcelona back in 1998, 2006, and 2012 over a decade ago through its acclaimed show ‘Alegria,’ is making a triumphant comeback to the Catalan capital this year, showcasing its successes once again.

In its 19-year tour journey, the Cirque du Soleil show has amazed more than 14 million viewers spanning 255 cities across 45 countries since its debut in 1994.

To attract new audiences while preserving the essence of their production’s originality, ‘Alegria’ is set to run for 80 performances until May 19, having already premiered in Barcelona on March 21, as reported by the Catalan News.

Audiences are in for a thrilling experience filled with adrenaline-pumping moments, surprises, impossible stunts, and dazzling costumes for two remarkable hours.

The finale promises to be something never seen before, featuring a new aerial stunt with nine trapeze artists simultaneously performing gravity-defying stunts.

Introducing several innovations in all aspects of the performance, comprising stunts, music, set design, and costumes, the new production that premiered in 2019 in Montreal still pays homage to the iconic scenes of the original version.

Bringing this new version of Cirque du Soleil to life required a tremendous effort from a team of 114 people from 26 different countries.

The creation of new costumes alone demanded more than 20,000 hours of work. The musical theme was given modern arrangements that blend electronic, acoustic, and orchestral elements, elevating the auditory experience.

The show will transport viewers to a realm of wonder and enchantment, set against the backdrop of a timeless royal court, recapturing the magic that made it so popular in the past.

Hurry to catch one of the best circuses ever, Cirque du Soleil, before the deadline of May 19, and you will discover firsthand why their reputation precedes them.

In Barcelona, there is something for everyone, and the euphoric “Alegria” is one of those experiences you wouldn’t want to miss while visiting the Catalan capital.

With its awe-inspiring stunts, vibrant costumes, and captivating storytelling, Cirque du Soleil promises to leave you spellbound, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
