Rome’s Domenica al Museo initiative has given many people the chance to enjoy the beautiful views from the country’s state museums and archaeological sites. The initiative allows people to have free access to the museums in Rome and across the country. On Sunday, May 5, all state museums will be open to the general public at zero cost.

The museums and archaeological sites are open from 9:30 in the morning to 7:00 in the evening with the last entry being at 6:00 in the evening. This is enough time for Rome locals, and visitors to enjoy the beautiful art inside these sites and landmarks.

Although Domenica al Museo was started a decade ago, there were only twelve museums open for free on the first Sunday of each month. However, the number of museums increased to twenty in 2019, allowing more people to have free access.

Rush to the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Antica to enjoy the artistic delights. These museums are spread across the Palazzo Barberini, housing some of the best ancient Roman pieces of art by Caravaggio, Rafael, and Barberini.

Get free access to the city’s municipal museums, such as the Ara Pacis and the Capitoline Museums, or rush to the archaeological sites in the Circus Maximus. Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 5, and enjoy some of your favorite sites for free.
