Dublin Airport is gearing up to host approximately 472,000 passengers over the upcoming August bank holiday weekend. During the four days from Friday to Monday, an estimated 234,000 passengers are expected to depart from the airport, with close to 238,000 arrivals anticipated. Sunday is projected to be the busiest day, with over 120,000 passengers arriving and departing from Dublin Airport.

Passengers travelling this weekend and in the weeks ahead are urged to arrive at their terminal at least two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul flight. According to Sarah Ryan, Director of Communications at DAA, the operator of Dublin Airport, “This weekend will be one of our busiest of the year so far. The August bank holiday is always a popular time for city breaks or visits to family and friends overseas, and we are expecting a significant influx of visitors to Ireland exploring all four corners of the island.”

As the summer holiday season is in full swing, many are opting to swap umbrellas and raincoats for beach towels and cocktails by jetting off to destinations such as Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy. The start of the football season in Scotland and England, as well as the upcoming Olympics in Paris, are also expected to contribute to the increased passenger numbers.

Passengers are advised to prepare for security in advance and proceed directly to the security screening area after check-in to ensure a smooth journey. While Dublin Airport has introduced new enhanced C3 scanners in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, the rules regarding liquids remain unchanged. Travellers are reminded to adhere to EU security regulations, which prohibit liquids over 100 ml from being brought through the security screening area. Additionally, passengers should familiarize themselves with the handy tips and advice available on the Dublin Airport website to streamline the security screening process.

Furthermore, passengers are encouraged to check which terminal their flight is departing from before they arrive at the airport.
