The 2024 Stressful Airport Index has revealed the least stressful airports in Europe, making your holiday experience a little more relaxing.

Dublin airport ranked eighth out of ten popular airports analysed, with a departure delay score of 2.1 out of five, making it 3rd airport in Europe giving passengers a stress-free experience. It is reassuring that Dublin airport is just 15.57 km away from the city centre and charges passengers €107 a week to park.

The most stressful airport in Europe is Charles-de-Gaulle in Paris, with long queues and high volumes of passengers contributing to its top position. The airport also has one of the highest car parking charges on the index, at €100 for a week.

Zagreb airport in Croatia is the least , with a departure delay score of 1.4 out of five giving travellers a stress-free airport experience. The airport is just 22.04 km away from the city centre, making for a less stressful journey for visitors.

Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam has one of the highest numbers of destinations passengers can fly to, with 260 destinations on offer. However, this stress-inducing factor means that the airport ranks in second position overall. The Dutch airport also charges passengers €113.50 to park there for a week and is over 19 km from the capital city.

Rome airport was the cheapest to park at (€27.60), followed by Madrid (€36). However, Rome ranked as the fourth most stressful due to over 40 million annual passengers and 225 destinations to fly. Meanwhile, Lisbon airport is the closest to the city centre, at just 13.12 km away, and receives over 33 million passengers annually, with a departure delay score of 2.3 out of five.

It is essential to feel relaxed before getting on a flight or when arriving back home after your holiday and a bad and stressful airport experience can quickly make or break the holiday. It is worth considering these stress-inducing factors when choosing your next European holiday destination.
