Electronic music fans will be treated to a concert by the Grammy award-winning musician William Phillips aka Tourist. The concert is scheduled for Friday, April 26 from 7:00 pm. The sold-out show has changed location from Karl铆n Barracks in Prague to Fuchs2 club on the 艩tvanice island to fit the high demand.
The British composer and producer returns to Prague to an eager audience, after a sold-out concert in 2019. According to the event organizers, Phillips attributed the success of his concerts to the relatable messaging in his compositions.
“It fascinates me that people don’t come to my concerts just for the latest album, but for the ideas of the music itself. I approach my work like a book, each album is a chapter of a novel, some may be more interesting to some than others, but everyone will figure that out after reading them,” explained Phillips.
Fans should look forward to his new recording, Memory Morning. The song keeps off autobiographical themes. Phillips in this song follows specific moods, asserting his instincts rather than experiences from his diaries. He also lets himself be carried away by popular influences. According to the singer, he also drew inspiration from the 2022 drama movie, Aftersun whose dreamy mood he cites, blends with his music.
As his stage name suggests, he has traveled the world spreading the electronic music sound for more than ten years. He gained fame for co-authoring Sam Smith’s Stay With Me, which earned him a Grammy award. The artist is also known for albums like Inside Out (2022).
Moreover, he debuted his career with remixes of independent bands but now prides himself in at least four albums. Besides, he started music as a DJ in his teenage years. He grew up listening to The Chemical Brothers and Goldiem which influenced the melodiousness of house music and synth-pop evident in his work. He has had collaborations with English musicians Elderbrook and L氓psley. He also took a joint tour with English-Los Angeles-based producer, Bonobo (Simon Green).
