Haut-Marais is currently the 23rd “coolest” neighborhood on the planet, according to Time Out, a lifestyle magazine that annually ranks the 40 trendiest neighborhoods worldwide.

Without a doubt, Le Haut Marais is the neighborhood that is growing the most at the moment. Everyone is talking about it as the most desirable neighborhood in Paris. It is a historically significant neighborhood that now attracts the most celebrities from all over the world.

Here’s what Time Out says about Haut-Marais: “It is not for nothing that, for the fourth year in a row, we designate Haut-Marais as the coolest Parisian district. Wedged between the touristy Marais and the more bohemian 11th, it continues to be enriched with cool places.”

The area bounded by Rue de Beaubourg, Rue de Turenne, and Rue des Haudriettes is home to top-tier art galleries such as Perrotin and Thaddaeus Ropac, fashion hotspots such as Merci, the city’s best cocktail bars, and the market. Enfants-Rouges, Paris’ oldest and liveliest food joint, is home to the legendary sandwich bar Alain Miam Miam and the best cuts of meat from The Butcher of Paris (to name a few).

Time Out’s “The Perfect Day” section recommends the following itinerary: Wake up in a hotel dedicated to the Maison Proust, then have breakfast with a Taiwanese touch at the Petite-ÃŽle bakery. Stop by Broken Arm to shop for trendy clothes, then eat lunch at Children’s Market. Digest by perusing the art books at OFR.

At aperitif time, take a tour (responsibly, of course) of the city’s best bars, including Little Red Door, Cambridge Public House, Candelaria, and the already legendary Bar Nouveau, led by cocktail magician Remy Savage. If you’re up for it, finish your evening at the iconic Les Bains club.

Finally, plan your trip around a dinner reservation at Datil, rue des Gravilliers. This newly opened restaurant is run by local chef Manon Fleury, who collaborated with chef Laurène Barjhoux to create a mostly plant-based menu.
