Quality of life is an important factor to consider while ranking the world’s greatest cities. But what is the quality of life, and how can you assess it?
Well, anything from your city’s walkability to how good it smells can have an impact on your quality of life, but the new Oxford Economics Global Cities Index for 2024 has taken a look at six key indicators: life expectancy, income per person, income equality, recreation and cultural sites, internet speed, and housing expenditure.
Grenoble, located in France, has the highest quality of life score of any city. With an astounding score of 100 out of 100, the “capital of the Alps” is well-known for being a popular hiking destination and a center for scientific research.
The capital of Australia, Canberra, comes in second and is the only non-European entry. Switzerland takes third place with Bern, Basel comes in fifth, and Zurich comes in eighth鈥攊t just so happens to be the best-scoring city in the world in terms of technology, services, and infrastructure.
