The Hors Limites festival, held over two weeks from March 15 to 30, 2024, introduces contemporary literature on the scale of a département, Seine-Saint-Denis. The literary festival, organized by the department’s library association will take place in approximately thirty towns in Seine-Saint-Denis, as well as in Paris, at various media libraries and partner venues.

More than 30 authors and artists will attend approximately one hundred events, including meetings, screenings, shows, musical readings, performances, and workshops, all to promote literature. The three-week festivities begin on March 15 at 8 p.m., with the inauguration at Montreuil’s Robert Desnos library. On March 30, the Bagnolet media library will host a musical reading for the public to conclude the festival.

On March 23, a literary tour with author Marie NDiaye will allow you to discover an author and his or her work uniquely, as you accompany the author through the festival’s stages. This year, it’s from Bobigny to Saint-Ouen via Saint-Denis, where you’ll meet filmmaker Claire Denis.

This festival, which is entirely free of charge, highlights the work of book professionals to promote literature through the crossover of different art forms, such as cinema and live performance. It’s an opportunity to see the Seine-Saint-Denis region, which is undergoing radical change, through new eyes.
