Paris Metro Prices Doubling: What You Need to Know

A single fare for the Paris Metro, buses, RER, and select tram lines usually costs 2.15 EUR. During this period, a single ticket will cost 4 EUR, and a 10-ticket book will be priced at 32 EUR. This significant increase underscores the importance of planning ahead to avoid paying nearly double for the same services.

If you won’t be in Paris before this period, load metro tickets onto your phone at the regular rate. RATP encourages travelers to buy tickets in advance to avoid the fare increase. Even during the surge period, they’ll honor lower prices for pre-purchased tickets.

During the Olympics, the weekly and daily travel cards, along with the Paris Visite pass which is usually valid for upto 5 days, won’t be available. Be sure to adjust your travel plans accordingly. It is also important to note that as the city gears up for the groundbreaking opening ceremony along the River Seine, specific transportation zones and perimeters will be enforced. 

Unauthorized vehicles are prohibited, except for Paris 2024 accredited vehicles, and motor vehicle entry requires a digital pass.
