As has been tradition, the 鈥楨aster Safety鈥� operation by the Public Security Police is on for the Easter period, and will conclude on 31st March. Patrol and inspections will increase throughout the country to safeguard public safety this festive season.
Particularly targeting areas with a high influx of people, the extensive patrols, and road enforcements aim to safeguard road safety and prevent crime. These areas include public transport terminals, nightlife districts, commercial zones and tourist areas.
The Easter season is often characterized by an increased number of trips as people gather for the festivities. In view of this, the PSP will prioritize preventive visibility operations to safeguard public safety on the roadways. From the statement released, they will concentrate enforcement efforts at access points to major road networks, with a focus on monitoring traffic entering and exiting urban centers.
The PSP has also identified speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to utilize seat belts and use of mobile phone while driving as key areas of concern. These will be primary targets of the Easter safety operations as they represent the main contributors to road accidents. The police have also urged drivers to drive safely.
