George Gordon Byron, or simply Lord Byron, was born in 1788 in England, where he lived until 1816 before going to Italy. He spent his last years in Italy, where he made a huge impact as a romantic poet before dying in 1824 at the tender age of thirty-six.

Despite passing away at a young age, Lord Byron’s impact on poetry lives on through generations and is celebrated yearly. It has been two hundred years since his death, and Rome is still celebrating the legend’s death, making poets remember him vividly. He must have been special.

As Wanted in Rome puts it, Lord Byron’s escape from England and exile in Italy changed the Romantic poem.

The bicentenary of Lord Byron’s death is being marked with a series of events to remember him, especially in Rome, as organized by Keats-Shelley House.

First, there will be a reading of a series of poems at a museum near the Spanish steps in Rome, followed by talks and other literary activities to remember the contribution made by Byron to literature.

In addition to the literary activities, there will be musical performances by acclaimed international artists such as Julius Drake. The artist is set to perform a special concert themed around Byron and his poems.

Take your time and appreciate the poetic beauty of a poet who never faded away even in death.
