De Bruyne Going through a ‘Personal Battle’

Following Manchester City’s victory over Real Madrid, Thierry Henry made a suggestion that Kevin De Bruyne is going through a personal battle.

On Wednesday night at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola’s team thrashed the defending European champions 4-0 to advance to the Champions League semifinals with a 5-1 overall triumph. City will now take on Serie A team Inter Milan in the championship game on June 10 in Istanbul.

De Bruyne, who scored the goal for City in the first leg last week in Madrid, put up an exceptional performance at the Etihad by contributing two assists. The Belgian was heard shouting “shut up” at Guardiola during the game on Wednesday night, demonstrating his plainly agitated state. The social media site went viral after a video of De Bruyne and Guardiola’s brief altercation. The midfielder is frequently told to “pass the ball” by Guardiola throughout the video. De Bruyne exclaims, “Shut up! ” to his manager after losing control of the ball. “Stop talking!”

The argument was quickly put behind them as City easily defeated Carlo Ancelotti’s team to get to the championship game. The City star was overheard speaking to Henry, who has worked with De Bruyne on an international level, full-time.

The altercation was quickly forgotten as City easily defeated Carlo Ancelotti’s team to advance to the final. Henry, a CBS Sports analyst who has tutored De Bruyne at the international level, was seen conversing with the City player full-time.

The two icons of the contemporary game hugged one another and had a quick chat. When CBS Sports questioned Henry about what he said to De Bruyne, he responded, “It was [a touching moment].” I have to keep that confidential, therefore I can’t say it.

“But from what he said to me, I, even more, respect how he played tonight and how he came and battled with his team. I can’t share what he said because I can’t share it. That’s how it is. But once again I will go back to, for me, he is the most important player.”

In that conversation, De Bruyne undoubtedly disclosed something to Henry, albeit it’s unclear what. The legend of Arsenal cries out, but that information will be kept “private”.

Guardiola commented on the argument, saying, “At 2-0, we hurried a lot. After the half, [Ilkay] Gundogan dropped a ball, Kevin made three unnecessary transitions, and we hurried a lot when we should have been sinking and turning our shots instead. But it is typical. While generally speaking, we have had an outstanding game, when it gets close, you rush, and it costs us more.

In order to win the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup all in the same season, City must win all three first. The only team to ever accomplish that feat was Manchester United, who did it under Sir Alex Ferguson 24 years ago.

To win the league title, City needs to win just one of their last three Premier League matches against Chelsea, Brighton, and Brentford. They will be confident of defeating Man Utd in the FA Cup final on June 3 since they are the overwhelming favorites to defeat Inter.
