On 23 April, England and other regions worldwide celebrate St George’s Day, the patron saint of England, Catalonia, Ethiopia, and more. The Feast of St George, now known as the St George’s Day festival, will be held on Sunday 21 April. The festival will take place in Trafalgar Square, West London, and other locations in the city. 

The festival will bring live entertainment, including traditional and modern performances, to Trafalgar Square. Visitors can take part in Morris dancing lessons and even write their own sea shanties. Singer Harleymoon Kemp will host the main stage, featuring acts such as Folk Dance Remixed, The Snottledogs, West End Kids, Twist and Pulse, and She’s Got Brass. There will be a beer, Pimm’s, and gin tent for adults and a face painting and carousel area for children. 

The festival is free to attend, and no booking is required. However, it is worth noting that the London Marathon is also taking place on the same day, so central London is expected to be very busy. 

Whitton High Street in West London will host a large free parade and street market to celebrate St George’s Day. Over 1,000 people will participate in the procession, which will begin at midday. The parade will feature marching bands, drummers, classic cars, military vehicles, and community groups, all led by St George (likely not the real one), the town crier, and the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames. The town will also have food and drink stalls, three entertainment stages, and other activities. 

Leadenhall Market in the City of London will also celebrate St George’s Day. Ewell St Mary鈥檚 Morris Men will give free performances hosted by the Lamb Tavern at 11 am and 1 pm. Visitors can also head to Hiver Taproom in the Bermondsey Arches for a lively evening of sea shanties, featuring a live sea shanty band covering the classics and mass singalongs, all powered by Hiver beer, wine, and spirits. Although the event is a regular one, this year’s celebration will be a St George’s special celebration.
