The official website has revealed that the Village prioritizes functionality, accessibility, and comfort, allowing Paralympic athletes to concentrate fully on their performance. ‘Public spaces, roads, sidewalks and crosswalks have all been designed to allow wheelchair users to pass through. This complies with the universal accessibility standards required for new urban developments’, explains Laurent Michaud, Village Manager.

The accommodation units are fitted with adjustable beds, accessible bathrooms with roll-in showers, and convenient controls for lighting and climate. These considerate features allow athletes to navigate their living spaces effortlessly. Transportation is another critical aspect of the Olympic Village’s design.

 The athletes use specialized vehicles with lifts and securement systems for ease in transportation. Frequent shuttle services follow optimized routes to minimize travel time and fatigue. Athletes with visual impairments benefit from audio announcements and tactile route maps, ensuring confident navigation within the village and its surroundings.
