Roma defeats Leverkusen as Juventus strikes Late Equalizer

In order to defeat Bayer Leverkusen and go to the Europa League final, Roma pulled off another Jose Mourinho masterstroke.

At the Stadio Olimpico, hometown hero Edoardo Bove scored the game’s lone goal in the second half to secure victory. However, Juventus held Sevilla to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their semi-final match, casting doubt on the prospects of an all-Italian final.

Sevilla, who is presently seated in the bottom part of the LaLiga standings, has made an unexpected run to the championship game. Along with Roma, Juventus is vying for a top-four berth in Serie A, but they are also at risk of losing points.

It turned out to be a game in Rome with very little opportunities, with Leverkusen and Roma largely canceling one other out. Leverkusen had 60% of the ball in their possession, which was the majority.

However, they ran across a resolute Roma defense that only let the guests have two shots on goal. Roma actually scored first when they advanced before the ball was passed to Tammy Abraham in the penalty area.

When Bove received the rebound after Abraham’s effort was saved, he scored the opening goal. Mourinho steered clear of controversy on the sidelines and was undoubtedly pleased with the way his team played.

Roma’s time-wasting strategies left Leverkusen increasingly irritated, and manager Xabi Alonso regularly complained to the fourth official. Paolo Dybala returned from injury during the game’s closing 15 minutes, much to the pleasure of the crowd.

The hosts were compelled to play defense for protracted stretches, but they were able to maintain their clean sheet and carry a one-goal advantage into the second leg. Despite Juve’s draw against Sevilla, the other Italian team in the final four still has a lot of work to do.

Sevilla had the most opportunities to win the game despite the hosts having a three-game winning streak coming into the match on Thursday. And after 26 minutes, Youssef gave the Spanish team the advantage.

The Jude defense was breached by a counterattack, and Bryan Gil handled a cross from Ocampos so that El-Nesyri could put it past Wojciech Szczesny. After that score, Sevilla continued to exert pressure on Szczesny’s net.

En-Nesyri initially had a clear shot towards goal, but Danilo quickly retreated to make the stop. Szczesny then had to make a spectacular stop to push Ivan Rakitic’s shot over the crossbar.

Due to Sevilla’s strong performance, Juve made two substitutions at halftime, replacing Filip Kostic and Fabio Miretti with Federico Chiesa and Samuel Iling-Junior. Fernando Gatti headed it at the back post, and it didn’t take long for those alterations to take effect.
