Arsenal’s EPL Title Hopes Shattered by Brighton

Mikel Arteta had to watch Roberto de Zerbi do a Jose Mourinho on Arsenal as Brighton ultimately ended the Gunners’ lingering title hopes.

Deniz Undav, a second-half substitute, and Pervis Estupinian’s strikes broke north London’s hearts and sent Brighton manager De Zerbi sprinting along the Emirates sideline.

Due to Arsenal’s loss, City will keep the title if they beat Chelsea on Sunday. Arteta expressed regret for his team’s defeat and remarked, “I detest the sensation of disappointing people when they are looking for something. I must apologize for my biggest regret of the day, which is that.

“What the team has done over the last 10 months is very different from what anybody expected and that generates a lot of expectation as well enthusiasm, happiness and joy. That’s something that has to be managed in the right way. We have the responsibility to make sure the team performs and I am responsible for that.”

If Arsenal loses to Forest next Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s team might even be able to claim the championship without ever kicking a ball.

Arteta continued, “Right now, all I feel is irritation. We had the impression that we lost the game in the second half. To get where we are, we had to fight really hard. The decision to keep hoping and working toward that desire was crucial at the time.

“In those circumstances, what we did in the second half is not possible.”

Arteta’s situation worsened when, after a foul by Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, forward Gabriel Martinelli was forced to be replaced after just 20 minutes.

He is currently wearing a boot, Arteta continued. We must scan him to determine the severity of that injury.”

With a game remaining, Brighton has moved up to sixth place, four points behind Liverpool in fifth place.

When asked about the knee slide Mourinho performed in 2004 after Porto defeated Manchester United, De Zerbi responded, “Mourinho is a fantastic manager, but I have this character. My own enthusiasm drives me.

After last week’s shocking 5-1 defeat to Everton, De Zerbi reportedly showed the team a video of basketball superstar Michael Jordan encouraging them.

De Zerbi, whose team travels to Newcastle on Tuesday, stated: “The mentality needs to be improved the most.

Brighton is up to sixth, four points behind fifth-placed Liverpool with a game in hand.

Asked about his knee slide, which Mourinho did after beating Manchester United with Porto in 2004, De Zerbi said: “Mourinho is a great manager but I have this character. This passion is my own.”

“The defeat against Everton started when we won against Manchester United. We didn’t forget the victory but now against Newcastle we have to forget we played in Arsenal’s stadium and we won there. Otherwise, we will lose at Newcastle. One hundred percent.”
