Victor’s Shot-blocking Capability His Most Outstanding Strength

A generational talent rare to come by is here and ready to take over. Victor Wembanyama is the name and he is set to join the NBA when the NBA draft happens on June 22, 2023.

Victor is projected to be the first overall pick in the upcoming draft with him being the highest draft prospect in over two decades with the last athlete getting such hype being LeBron James back in 2003.

The San Antonio Spurs possess the first pick in the draft and the possible choice they look to make is to add Wembanyama to their franchise.

A lot of reasons to smile about having to bring Wembanyama to their franchise from soaring ticket and merchandise sales to adding over half a billion to franchise value, the benefits keep increasing each passing day.

The other reason why the Spurs would be so excited to bring Wembanyama to their team is because of his unmatched talents and skills.

Victor is 7’4″ tall, with an 8-foot wingspan, and makes accurate three-point shots.

He is renowned for both his skill and general playing approach.

Victor will surely find it simpler to perform activities that other players will find challenging because of his alien-like height.

Due to his great ball-handling abilities and quick first step, he may make the shot despite his height by outrunning the defence.

His shooting is accurate and lethal beyond the arc, so he’ll adapt quickly in the NBA.

Dubbed a generational talent with all good players being unicorns but Wembanyama being different and more of like an alien, his superpower has been revealed.

A piece by The Athletic outlines Wembanyama’s outstanding superpower that makes him one of the most sought-after talents in the basketball world right now.

The ability to defend in the paint is Victor’s superpower. The NBA hasn’t had a better shot-blocking prospect enter the league in a while than him.

As a 17 or 18-year-old, he led the EuroLeague in blocked shots, and in 2022–2023, he stopped twice as many shots in the French League as any other player.

This is understandable for a person who stands at a staggering 7’4” with an 8-foot wingspan.

His height has enabled him to put up a wall on the court and despite his prowess on the defensive end, his point-guard-like fluidity makes him more lethal on the offensive end.

Averaging 3.1 blocks per game for the 2022-23 season, his defensive ability stands unmatched amongst all centres in and out of the NBA.

The San Antonio Spurs could use a centre who would be pivotal in ensuring the defensive end is not passable, a player who can contain the opponent but also can be explosive to lead in scoring.

Wembanyama is that player whose height would be helpful to ensure that he hones his ability to defend and harnessing his prowess will ensure the Spurs stay unbeatable.

All we have to do is wait and see how things play out and where Wembanyama ends up but as things stand, Wembanyama is on the right path.
