Wemby Already Scheming Against Team USA

Garnering fans across the globe is what looks like Victor’s latest reality these days. Gaining fans for a unanimous number-one draft in the NBA is nothing though, the lad’s name is what’s making news these days.

For all the good reasons, Victor is set to be the first overall pick in the upcoming draft set for Thursday, June 22, 2023, and we can’t wait long enough to see where he lands.

Wembanyama is getting so much hype that it draws comparisons to the one LeBron James got back in 2003 when he was getting into the NBA.

We saw what LeBron James was and Victor getting the same hype just shows the calibre in which the French international is in.

For the last one and a half years, Victor’s hype has been growing day by day and as a part of the Metropolitans 92 in the LNB Pro A, we can see why so much buzz surrounds him.

Wembanyama is 7’4″ tall, has an 8-foot wingspan, and makes accurate three-point shots.

He is renowned for both his skill and general playing approach. Victor will undoubtedly find it simpler to accomplish plays that other players will find challenging because of his alien-like height.

Given his strong ball-handling abilities and quick first step, he can outrun the defence despite his height and make the shot.

A combination of his accurate and deadly shooting from beyond the arc guarantees he to adjust to the NBA quickly.

Possessing all this greatness no wonder it made LeBron James refer to Wemby as a generational talent alongside calling him an ‘alien.’

With the approval of the King, it looks like Wemby will be getting the reception a king is accorded and now that he will be going to the USA we want to see how he hoops in a different country.

With the draft lottery just completed and the Spurs with the lucky winner of the first pick come the draft day it is obvious that they will pick Wemby.

San Antonio natives will be delighted about the news but they might also feel otherwise in regards to what Victor has in store for Team USA.

Talking to French broadcaster Pascal Giberné, Victor said, “You know the Olympics are in Paris in 2024.

And there could be no more perfect occasion for me to win my first title with the French national team. My goal is to beat Team USA in the final.”

That would stir up staunch supporters of Team USA and with Wembanyama in his element, this does not look like a far cry but something that can happen.

With an already established international career having won Silver medals at the FIBA Under-16 European Championship in 2019 and at the FIBA Under-19 World Cup in 2021, he looks prepared for the task.

Wembanyama sounding an early warning should be an awakening call to Team USA and as the Olympics are set for next year Wemby would be looking to revive Team France’s glory and redemption after they lost the finals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

In his first appearance in the men’s national team, Victor will be looking to achieve a feat that the French team has never achieved, winning Gold.

How that fairs on we have to wait and see all we hope is that we see him play. Perhaps it’s time Team USA passes the torch to Team France. All hail Wembanyama.
