Czechia ranked in the top 20 happiest countries in the world according to the 2024 World Happiness Report. Ahead of the US, UK, and France, Czechia ranked 18^th as it did in the 2023 and 2022 reports. The survey was conducted in 143 countries in the world.

The World Happiness Report (WHR) was released by the United Nations in celebration of the International Day of Happiness on Wednesday, March 20.

Czechia scored 6.8 out of 10 same as last year. Finland topped the list scoring 7.7. Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and Israel rounded in the top five happiest countries in the world.

In Europe, Czechia secured 12th place ahead of its neighbors Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary. It outscored nations like the US, UK, France, Singapore, Spain, and Japan.

Czechia has maintained the 18th position in the World Happiness Report since 2022. Life satisfaction as one of the report’s crucial factors includes concerns of affordability, purchasing power, satisfaction with governance, health, and social matters. The Czech expressed satisfaction with these concerns in this year’s report placing the country as a top tourist destination. 

Also, earlier in the year a Safety Index named Prague among the world’s safest cities in 2024, strengthening Czechia’s credibility as a vacation center.

The World Happiness survey asked respondents to rate the satisfaction of their lives on a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 as the highest score. The research also drew findings from renowned pollster Gallup World Poll who measured satisfaction against government and politics, health, and social issues.

As per the report, the young generation in Czechia emerged happier than the seniors. For the 30-year-olds and under category, Czechia was the 10th-happiest country in the world. Those over 60 years old were less happy, coming 23rd in the world.
