The Flåm Church is located within the village of Flam and belongs to the Diocese of Bjorgvin. The brown long wooden church was built according to past traditions and designed by an unknown architect. The only known record shows that it was built by master builder Magne Essen in 1670. Remarkably, the long church seats comfortably accommodate more than 150 people, and the records show the church building is was built in the year of our Lord 1340.
The first church in Flåm was a wooden stave and it was erected at the same spot as the present-day church.
