From its rock foundation near the riverbed, the imposing silhouette of Bran Castle rises majestically above the valley below.

Bran is a small town that guards the most important medieval route that connects Transylvania to Wallachia, the Rucăr-Bran Pass.

Bran Castle is often associated with the fictional vampire Count Dracula. The Romanian castle resembles Castle Dracula.

Currently, Bran is open as a museum, largely devoted to Queen Marie of Romania. The castle is also a popular location for Halloween events.

The Bran castle had to be mended and refurbished over centuries of struggle with the Ottoman Empire.

Buses to Bran depart Brasov’s bus terminal No. 2. Approximately 45 min, from Brasov to Bran Castle will take approximately 40 minutes.

There are many Bucharest to Bran Castle tours as well as day trips from Brasov. Many of the day trips to Transylvania and Bran Castle will also include Peles Castle.

Bran Castle is open daily although opening hours may vary according to the season, Expect 45Lei for standard adult entry. 

During the high season that is between April and September its open every day from 9 am to 6 pm and on Mondays from 12 pm to 6 pm

During the low season from October to March every day from 9 am to 4 pm and on Mondays from 12 pm to 4 pm.

In addition to the entrance, an audio guide in different languages can be requested, so you can listen to the guidance in your native language.

The price includes the cost of taking pictures, even today, some parts remain of the battlemented walls of the forecourt.

5. The exquisite Castle has no accommodation except during Halloween 

The Bran Castle has no accommodations for overnight guests, Halloween is held every year on October 31st in the Bran Castle

However, Bran Castle occasionally runs events, usually coinciding with Halloween, offering the opportunity to sleep in the castle overnight.

You can buy tickets to the castle online. You do not have to print the tickets, because the gate equipped with a scan can also read the QR codes on your phone.

The name of the town, incidentally, translates from Slavonic to mean gate, it was also a route through which hostile forces could invade the region of Transylvania.
