1. Leonid Fedun

Leonid Arnoldovich Fedun is a Russian billionaire businessman of Ukrainian origin. Fedun was a close associate of Vagit Alekperov, a former key figure in the oil company Lukoil and Russia’s most successful football club, Spartak Moscow. Fedun was Spartak’s top official and second-largest shareholder between 2004 and 2022.  His entrepreneurial endeavors have earned him numerous state awards (Order For Merit to the Fatherland, 4th Order, and the Order of Honour).  Fedun has been labeled an oligarch by critics due to his estimated wealth of $8.5 billion (as of June 2019). He was a military officer before entering the private sector.

2. Roman Abramovich

Roman Abramovich owns the Chelsea Football Club and is a Russian billionaire entrepreneur. After graduating from the Moscow State Law Academy in 1989, he went on to become one of Russia’s most successful businessmen. Roman made his fortune not only through oil and gas companies but also through Sibneft. It is one of Russia’s largest oil producers. Aside from his business success, Abramovich has established the Abramovich Foundation, which focuses on improving the lives of children and the elderly in Russia. He is also an active supporter of the arts, having invested in a variety of cultural projects.

3. Mikhail Fridman

Mikhail Fridman is a Russian entrepreneur and billionaire who was born in 1964. He is the founder of Alfa Group, a large private investment group based in Russia. He has also been involved in a range of other businesses, including banking, media, retail, telecommunications, and oil and gas.

Fridman has been highly successful in his business endeavors and is considered one of the wealthiest people in Russia. He is well known for his philanthropic activities, which include the establishment of the Mikhail Fridman Foundation, which provides scholarships to Russian students.

4. Vladimir Potanin

Vladimir Olegovich Potanin is a Russian businessman and billionaire.  He amassed his fortune primarily through Russia’s contentious loans-for-shares program in the early to mid-1990s. However, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, he was the wealthiest man in Russia and the 38th richest person in the world as of August 2022, with an estimated net worth of $24.4 billion.

His long-term business partner was Mikhail Prokhorov, with whom he parted ways in 2007. They then placed their mutual assets in a holding company, Folletina Trading, until an asset division agreement was reached. 

5. Alexander Mamut

Alexander Mamut is a famous Russian entrepreneur and philanthropist.  Mamut is widely known for his investments in various sectors, including media, finance, and technology. He was a Rambler Group co-owner until 2020. He is an Israeli citizen. However, Forbes estimated Mamut’s net worth to be $2 billion in June 2022.

6. Vladimir Lisin

Leonid Viktorovich Mikhelson is a Russian-Israeli businessman who is the CEO, chairman, and major shareholder of the Russian gas company Novatek. Mikhelson formed Novatek after acquiring a stake in a privatized pipeline construction company following the demise of the Soviet Union. He works with Russian billionaire Gennady Timchenko, a close confidante of Russian President Vladimir Putin. 

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, he had a net worth of US$28.8 billion as of August 2022, ranking him 44th in the world and second in Russia.

8.Vladimir Yevtushenkov

Vladimir Yevtushenkov is a Russian entrepreneur and business magnate. He is ranked as the 13th richest person in Russia. Born in 1954 in Moscow, he is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sistema JSFC, a diversified holding company that has investments in banking, telecommunications, media, retail, tourism, technology, real estate, and oil and gas.

 He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys in 1977 and began his career as a research fellow at the Moscow Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals. In 1993, he founded Sistema and has since grown it into one of Russia’s largest publicly traded companies.

9.Dmitry Rybolovlev

Dmitry Yevgenyevich Rybolovlev is a Russian oligarch, businessman, and investor. In 1995, Rybolovlev was appointed chairman of the Russian fertilizer company Uralkali. Later on, in 2010, he sold Uralkali’s majority stake to three Kremlin-connected oligarchs for $6.5 billion. Rybolovlev had a reported net worth of $6.7 billion as of 2021, ranking 391st on Forbes’ list of billionaires. 

10. Ruben Vardanyan

Ruben Vardanyan is a Russian entrepreneur, who is best known for being a co-founder and former CEO of Troika Dialog. He is also a philanthropist and has established the IDeA Foundation with his wife Veronica Zonabend, which focuses on community development and education in the region.

In addition, he has established the UWC Dilijan International School and the Everest Education Foundation. He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Future of Philanthropy and Social Investing.

11.Oleg Tinkov

Oleg Tinkov is a Russian entrepreneur, who is not only the founder and majority owner of Tinkoff Bank but also the founder of Tinkoff Credit Systems. Tinkov has been awarded the title of “Entrepreneur of the Year” multiple times by Forbes Russia and his success has earned him a place on the Forbes list of billionaires. He is also well known for his philanthropy, having donated millions of dollars to various charities.

12. Dmitry Itskov

Dmitry Itskov is a Russian entrepreneur and billionaire who founded the web-based media company New Media Stars.  Itskov is best known as the founder of the 2045 Initiative, which seeks cybernetic immortality by 2045.  In a BBC Horizon TV documentary from 2016, Itskov stated that the “ultimate goal of his plan is to transfer someone’s personality into the new artificial carrier.”

He is also the founder of the Global Future 2045 International Congress, an annual gathering of scientists, technologists, and spiritualists. However, he has been involved in numerous business ventures, whereby his goal is to create a new economy based on the principles of sustainable development.

13.Alexander Abramov

Alexander Grigoryevich Abramov is a Russian businessman who served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Evraz, one of Russia’s largest steel producers, until March 2022. Since 1998, he has amassed one of Russia’s largest steel and iron empires, employing 71,591 people worldwide, with a steel output of 13,57 million tons and a turnover of $14,1 billion in 2021, earning him the title of a Russian oligarch. Abramov, a business partner and ally of Aleksandr Frolov and Roman Abramovich, was listed by Forbes in June 2021 as having an estimated net worth of $8.0 billion. 

14. Maxim Nogotkov

Maxim Nogotkov owns Svyaznoy, which is   Russia’s second-largest cell phone retailer. While still in school, Nogotkov began selling computer software and later began selling cordless phones. He dropped out of college to focus on growing his wholesale cell phone business before moving into retail. He also founded the online store Enter and owns a chain of jewelry stores through a Pandora franchise. Nogotkov established Svyaznoy Bank in 2010. He reportedly donated $6 million to the digital democracy organization Yopolis last year.

15. Viktor Rashnikov
