David Rasif, Jade Rasif’s father, stole $11.3 million from his clients and fled the country in 2006. To add insult to injury, before leaving, he persuaded the family to sell their HDB flat in order to purchase a condominium unit that was far out of their price range.

Her mother was left with a million-dollar mortgage after her father abandoned them, not to mention the lawsuits that followed his disappearance. Unlike Jade’s more affluent classmates at SJI International School, the family had to tighten their belts for years as they paid off the mortgage, led by the mother. They didn’t get new clothes or a car, and Jade didn’t even have a cell phone in high school.

MOM responded on Facebook after Jade called out MOM for their blunders on her Instagram story, claiming that Jade’s facts were “inaccurate.” Jade was displeased with MOM’s response, and she launched another series of Instagram stories with actual evidence from her account. She began by publicly requesting clarification from Dee Kosh on parts of his apology that were unclear, stating that she does not want to “cancel” someone without first asking fair questions.

Jade then addressed all of her male followers under the age of 18, advising them to contact the police immediately if they were communicated with in a sexually explicit manner. Jade also stated that she understands that some people may be afraid or embarrassed about being judged, so she opened up her Instagram DMs to these victims and promised anonymity.
