1. Alicia Vikander

The top of the list is Alicia Vikander. You have probably watched her in Raider of tombs, royalty, artist, agent, humanoid robot.

She is a multi-talented actress that can make any role seem easy and no sweat.

Alicia is also a skilled dancer and film producer. She was born and raised in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Her mother was an actress too and acted both on stage an on big screen. Her father was a psychiatrist.

She started acting a young age in small stage productions at the Goteborg Opera.

She also trained as a ballet dancer at the Royal Swedish Ballet School in Stockholm and the School of American Ballet in New York.

Her acting career started to bloom when she took part in short Swedish films and television series.

Her role ad Josefin Bjorn Tegebrandt in the television series Second avenue gave her the first recognition for her talent.

She later got to be in a feature film debut, pure in 2009, that got her the Guldbagge Award for best actress.

More acclamation went her way in 2012 when she portrayed princess Ekaterina Alexandrovna Shcherbatskaya in the film version of Anna Karenina.

She also acted as Queen Caroline Mathilde in a popular Danish film; A royal affair. It was followed by another role in a Swedish drama Film Hotell in 2013.

Alicia also featured in Julian Assange鈥檚 documentary, the fifth estate in 2013 too.

2. Anna Odell

Anna started her theatrics while in art school. She staged a fake suicide attempt and was taken to a psychiatric hospital.

A few years later she surprised her audience with a show that she directed. The show was called the reunion shot in 2013.

The movie was about an artist who is not invited to her class reunion. She shoots a film of what could have happened had she been invited. The character then shares this with her classmates.

It brought about interesting discussions among the Swedes and critics too. The film was shown to international audiences too.

The film earned her several international awards, two of which were from Venice and Guldbagge Awards, Sweden鈥檚 top movie honour, for Best Film and Best Screenplay.

Her most recent film shot in 2018, X&Y examines gender roles in society. She also starred in this film.

She uses her films to stir important discussions on issues that would have been presumed normal but are biased and lacks justice.

3. Gabriela Pichler

Gabriela is another Swedish actress that has used her acting skills to bring out the unfairness on gender in Swedish films.

She grew up in Stockholm and Orkelljunga. Her mother is Bosnian and her Father Austrian.

She described the industry as narrow in showcasing the different ethnicities and social backgrounds in the country.

She uses her movies to bring these issues to perspective. One of her 2012 movies, Eat Sleep Die, shows the life of a modern Swedish working-class focusing more on second-generation Swedes.

This movie won the Audience Award and International Critics鈥 Week Award at the Venice film festival.

Her second feature film, Amateurs, was released in 2018. She collaborated with a Swedish playwright Jonas Hassen Khemiri.

The film cast inexperienced actors, she won another four Guldbagge Awards in Sweden, together with best actor and best actress

Her film Scratches won the best short film category in the 45th Gulgbagge Awards in 2010.

She was awarded the Bo Widerberg scholarship in 2010 too.

4. Rebecca Ferguson

Rebecca Ferguson had her break into the film when she was 15-years-old.

She played a leading role in a Swedish television show, New Times.

She proceeded to act alongside the best actors in the industry like Tom Cruise, Jake Gyllenhaal and Meryl Streep.

Rebecca did a Swedish musical interpretation of the Swedish nightingale from the film The Greatest Showman. She performed Infront of a packed opera.

An interesting fact about Rebecca is that despite having travelled to so many countries, lived and owned houses in major cities in the world; she loves a quiet village life.

She owns a home in Simrishamn, a small fishing village with at least 6000 people in the south east coast of Sweden.

Noomi Rapace is a Swedish actress who has achieved international fame from her depiction of Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish films; The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest.

She was born in Hudiksvall Sweden to a family of artists. Her mother was an actress in Sweden and her father a flamenco singer.

She got cast for a film in Iceland where she was living with her mother and step-father. The film got her more interested in acting. She joined the Stockholm theatre school when she turned 15.

Noomi had a role in a Swedish television series Tre Kronor in 1994. She made several guest appearances and earned the respect of the audience to become a respected stage performer.

In 2007, she won critical acclaim for playing the leading role in Daisy Diamond.

Her 2009 portrayal of Lisbeth Salander won her Sweden鈥檚 Guldbagge awards for the best actress awards.
