Was Princess Diana Murdered: The Reasons Why People Still Believe It Wasn’t An Accident

The 1997 death of Diana, Princess of Wales has never been forgotten by many people across the world. In the early hours of 31st August, she sustained injuries from a car crash in the Pont de I’Alma tunnel in Paris, France. Her partner, Dodi Fayed, and their driver, Henri Paul were all found dead in the car while Dodi’s bodyguard was the only survivor.

Several conspiracy theories came up on the death of Princess Diana even though official investigations stated that it was just a crash. The Mercedes-Benz W140 crashed into the tunnel killing the loyalties, but people believe there is more. Initially, it was thought that the chase by the Paparazzi might have led to the crash, but investigations ruled this out.

Among the conspiracies behind the death of Princess Diana was the involvement of M16. However, this theory has never been proven making it one among the many other theories. Some people believe that the driver who was drunk at the moment was used to murder Princess Diana.

Here are The Reasons Why People Still Believe It Wasn’t An Accident that Killed Princess Diana:

1. Absence of CCTV Images

This is one of the major things that people still believe that Princess Diana’s death was not an accident. There have never been CCTV images that showed the journey of the Mercedes-Benz from the hotel to the crash site. In 2006, the Independent newspaper stated that there were more than fourteen CCTV cameras in the Pont de I’Alma underpass but none recorded the accident.

What made it more suspicious is that during the investigations when the car trip was tracked by investigators, no CCTV images or footage captured the car. However, it is believed that many buildings in Paris at the time only captured their entries. The suspicion is more as there was a traffic-monitoring camera above the underpass.

However, this camera was under the control of la Compagnie de Circulation Urbaine de Paris, the Paris Urban Traffic Unit which never showed any image of the crash. This department is believed to have closed at 11 p.m. and there was no night duty staff leading to no recordings. This is not satisfactory as the Police Headquarters Information and Command Center was able to see pictures of the traffic camera but could not control it.

2. Princess Diana’s Relationship with Dodi Fayed

People believe that the relationship between Princess Diana and the Egyptian Muslim man Dodi Fayed might have led to her death. An allegation of Princess Diana being pregnant with Dodi and their plans of getting engaged made many believe that she was murdered. It is alleged that there was a dislike of the idea that the British Royal Family was going to have a non-Christian within them.

The engagement of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed meant that the future king would have been sired by an Egyptian Muslim which couldn’t be tolerated. Mohamed Al-Fayed came up with the view that Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Diana’s sister Lady Sarah, and many others were involved in the plot to kill Diana. This allegation was published by several publications who believed that the death of Princess Diana was planned.

3. Diana’s Driver Connections to the Security Services

Henry Paul was the driver of the Mercedes-Benz W140 that killed Princess Diana in the crash. Several theorists believed and made allegations that he had connections with the National Security Service. However, they have never revealed whether he worked with Britain, France, or the United States.

The evidence used to link Henry Paul with the security service is the money he had in possession at the time of his death and his wealth. The allegations of Henry Paul’s connections with the National Security Service are covered in the Operation Paget Criminal investigation reports. Another supporting allegation was from Mohamed Al-Fayed who claimed that Henry was set up by the M16 whom he worked for.

4. Allegations of the Involvement of the M16

There was an allegation made that the M16 was involved in the death of Princess Diana ruling out that it was an accident. A former M16 officer, Richard Tomlinson accused that the M16 was involved in the murder of Princess Diana. He had been dismissed by the intelligence services for breaching the Official Secrets Acts 1989.

Richard had made a sworn statement to the French inquiry in May 1999 claiming that Britain’s M16 was involved in the crash. He claimed that Princess Diana was being trailed by the M16 before she died in the crash.

5. A White Fiat Uno Involvement in the Crash

There was an analysis made on the wreckage of the Mercedes-Benz W140 that Princess Diana died in it. It was found out that the Benz had glancing contact with a white Fiat Uno car as some traces of paint were on its bodywork. The French police had tried to find this vehicle with no success.

However, some witnesses revealed that they saw a Uno exiting the tunnel after the crash. Mohamed Al-Fayed also made an allegation that the M16 used this Fiat Uno to make the Mercedes-Benz swerve off the road and crash. He also alleged that photojournalist Jean-Paul James Andanson was used to commit this act.

Jean-Paul had taken a photo of Princess Diana from his villa in St. Tropez in July 1997. Andanson committed suicide later and Mohammed claimed that he did the act out of guilt for causing the murders.

6. The Bright Flash Theory

Another theory that made many believe that Princess Diana was murdered is that there was a bright flash that distracted the driver. The reports claimed that there was a bright white flash that hit the Mercedes-Benz before the car got into the tunnel. This bright flash is believed to have blinded the driver leading to the crash.

Richard Tomlinson was one of the people who made this claim but his allegation was found wanting. However, there were several accounts from several witnesses who claimed that there was a flash that caused the accident. François Levistre claimed to have seen the light, but his then-wife who was in the passenger seat refuted this claim.

Another American tourist, Brian Anderson who was also a witness made this claim. However, this allegation was refuted later after thorough investigations with claims stating that the paparazzi and other vehicles could have been affected.

7. The Sabotage of the Vehicle’s Seat Belts

In April 2006, there were some media discussions about the fact that Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed had no seat belts on. This debate was brought in by the fact that Princess Diana was a faithful user of seat belts and failing to use them was questionable. It was then claimed that there was either a failure of the seat belts or they were sabotaged to ensure that they died in the crash.

“What is certain is that she was not wearing a seat belt and this made things worse. We would like to think that if she had been wearing a seat belt, we’d have been able to save her,” André Lienhart, who reviewed the emergency services’ response stated.

In early September 1997, CNN analyzed the crash and had their report. They claimed that the Princess and other occupants could not have died if they had their seat belts on. They could have sustained minor injuries and could have been saved raising several questions on whether it was a crash or a murder.

8. Period of Transport Time to the Hospital

Another questionable thing about the death of Princess Diana is the time taken to transport the injured Princess to the hospital. It is believed that the emergency services took very long to move the Princess from the crash site to the hospital. The emergency services switchboard was logged at 12:26 a.m., but the SAMU ambulance arrived at the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital at 2:06 a.m.

The length of time of this transport was supported by the French system of emergency care claiming that it was mandatory to stabilize the patient before transportation. However, this whole incident raised several conspiracy-related comments.

9. Embalming of the Body of Princess Diana

Mohamed Al-Fayed said that Diana’s body was purposefully embalmed soon after her passing to guarantee that any pregnancy test conducted during the post-mortem would result in a false positive. As physical evidence would have been present in Diana’s womb and ovaries, Robert Chapman, who performed the post-mortem examination, claimed that the embalming fluids would not have affected his ability to determine whether Diana was pregnant or not.

10. SAS Allegations of Involvement in the Death of Princess Diana

There is also the SAS allegation that it was involved in the murder of Princess Diana. A witness, Soldier N wrote a letter and sent it to his in-laws that brought wider attention. This led to thorough investigations into the involvement of SAS in the death of Princess Diana.

Soldier N had boasted that SAS was directly involved in the death and covered it up. This information was reportedly passed to Scotland Yard by the Royal Military Police for more investigations. However, it was revealed that this theory was baseless.

The death of Princess Diana still hurts many people across the world as people have never come to terms with what transpired to her death. However, there is still hope for the many questions to be answered in the future about the death of the Princess whether it was a crash or murder
