10 Best Burgers in Chicago.

Chicago has long been known for its deep-dish pizza and loaded dogs, but locals know the truth: The best burgers in Chicago are the real star of the show.

The city is jam-packed with restaurants presenting their takes on the ground meat sandwich.

These days, you’d be hard-pressed to find a menu that doesn’t feature a patty, whether it’s a Michelin-starred restaurant or one of the coolest cocktail bars in Chicago.

Burgers are the ideal dish: The price/quality ratio is wonderful, the fat content is easy to control, and they cook quickly and easily.

They can be made from a variety of meats and spices. They can be kept in the freezer in convenient packages. The variations are endless

Whether you like your patties thin and griddled or thick and juicy, there’s something on the list of the best burgers in Chicago for every carnivore (and vegetarians aren’t left out either).

Here is a list of where to get the 10 best burgers in Chicago.

One of the newest joints in Chicago but the guys at Gretel in Logan Square do have some experience slinging pristine patties at sister spot Little Bad Wolf.

The ambience is worth taking anyone you want to impress with floor to ceiling bar, a great low lighted dining area with nice accents.

The menu, while at first seemingly non-thematic has a great selection that accommodates most cravings

Get your hands on the signature griddle burger via a walk-up window or delivery.

The mashing of flavours is wonderfully indulgent, with a cascade of garlic aioli and American cheese dripping out of every crevice.

A handful of pickles and a sprinkle of red onions add some much-needed acidity to the mix, but the cloud-like sesame seed bun really takes things over the edge.

The freshman burger is worth a bite.

2.      Dusek’s Tavern

Address:  1227 W. 18th Street Chicago, IL 60608
Phone     : (312) 526-3851
Working Hours: WED – SAT       5:00PM – 2:00 AM
                                       SUNDAY        11:00 PM – 1:00 AM

Dusek’s reinvented its food offerings and they’ve done a great job, the food was good before, but now it’s pretty great.

The double patty is a blend of dry-aged chuck, short rib, sirloin, and round, all from Slagel Farms, all smothered in “special sauce” consisting of mayo, ketchup, garlic powder, diced white onion, diced pickles, and hot sauce.

It’s topped with American cheese and lettuce and served with a side of fries.

Their burger is solid and the fries are super.

Ask for some of the house-made bread and butter pickles, they serve it with some dill ones and are the acidic addition the burger needs.

Wash it down with one of Dusek’s draft beers.

The ambience was in between cosy casual and intimate. Dim lighting with rustic vibes. Medium noise levels.

Both delivery and takeout are available.

3.   The Loyalist

This dark and sexy basement bar offers everything from foie gras eclairs to mussels in bacon cream, but the Dirty Burg is what keeps us coming back again and again.

A juicy patty is sandwiched between squishy sesame-seed–studded buns and adorned with melted American cheese and a mess of pickled and charred onions.

The burger is good,  simple and unique. The natural flavours of the meat blend stand out and it’s cooked at a perfect medium-rare.

By keeping it simple the flavours of the different cuts of meat shine with every bite. But the cheese and aioli really were the winners of the burger.

It’s not exactly the kind of thing you want to devour on a first date, but we’re not judging if you do.

A chaser of thick-cut fries and garlicky aioli is the only thing that will keep you from scarfing down this handheld in five minutes flat.

The team at Marz have seamlessly made their way from best breweries to our best burgers with the standout addition of the Mom’s Burger at the Bridgeport taproom.

The Slagel Family Farms short rib burger topped with American cheese, spicy mayo, and pickles on a furikake milk bread bun is no ordinary run-of-the-mill beef sandwich.

When ingested with a side of nori fries and one of the aforementioned house  brewed beers, it’s one of the finest pairings in all of Chicago.

Known as a River North staple steakhouse that has been around for 30 years, Kinzie Chophouse whips up a mean burger for lunch.

The burger patty consists of a secret recipe of freshly ground beef, topped with vine-ripened tomatoes, red onions, lettuce, and a choice of cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella, or Monterey jack, served with thick-cut fries.

For dinner, grab a dry-aged steak or try the signature 30th anniversary cut of 21-day dry-aged lamb chops.

Channelling old-school burger joints in Northwest Indiana, the Region is known for its smash burger, with an iconic, lacey-edged patty that extends well past the bun.

Every inch of crispy beef is dressed with American cheese, mayo-based house sauce, bright green relish and raw onion.

The Smashburger is terrific and you will love the edges, so crispy.

The bun was good and the onions on top are sliced thin.  The meat is definitely the star, as it should be!

Burgers here are completely satisfying and gluttonous.   The burgers have a high-fat ratio making it a beautiful guilty pleasure and a decadent mouthful with each bite that oozes with flavour and the special sauce they put on top.

Definitely not someplace to come for a first date but a great place to kick back on the small patio with a burger and some fries.

Paris meets Chicago at Venteux, meaning “windy” in French a nod to the city’s infamous nickname “Windy City.”

The brioche burger by executive chef Donald Young, the youngest chef in Chicago to run a Michelin star kitchen during his time at Temporis, is an 80/20 chuck blend (80 per cent lean meat and 20 per cent fat) — the ratio equivalent of a sweet spot for a moist, juicy burger.

Raclette cheese is melted atop the patty, finished with fried crispy shallots, pepper butter, charred leek relish, and a herb mix of mint, Thai basil, and cilantro for a kick of flavour.

If that’s not enough, add bacon for extra texture and smokiness.

The ambience is a dramatic 40-foot high ceiling at the Pendy Chicago’s 1920s Art Deco Carbide and Carbon Building is truly spectacular.

Delivery and takeout are available.

Whether you’re seeking a killer bargain or one of the best burgers in Illinois, old-school Edzo’s can always be counted on for a reliable arsenal of meaty delights from char to Double-Double Animal-Style.

But in the end, why complicate things? Stroll in, order the classic single griddled burger, and walk out a happy human.

Edzo’s Griddled Burger was named one of the nation’s top burgers (No.37).

Order the 4-ounce patty melt and garlic fries. The fries are crisp and hot; the smother of garlicky goodness only make them better.

The rye bread is always fresh and the onions grilled to perfection.

Top-Notch Beef burgers have been a South Side institution since 1942.

Nostalgia plays a starring role in the classic no-frills diner-style experience.

Ground daily in-house and griddled in its own juices, options range from the classic 1/4 pound basic beefburger to the slightly more adventurous 1/2 pound Western packed with three slices of cheese, three strips of bacon, grilled or raw onions, grilled green pepper, and BBQ sauce plus a bounty of fries.

Just to emphasize they have fantastic burgers, they grind and form the burgers on site.

The fries are fresh-cut, so fresh. The soups hit the spot and their old fashioned shakes are the best.

Everything on the menu is tasty and fresh you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Great food and service, it has convenient parking. Close to shopping centre and easy to get to.

Stop by for first come, first served seating or order take-out and delivery via GrubHub.

Visit this small roadside shack in Des Plaines for terrific burgers that rank among Chicagoland’s finest.

The sizeable patty is loaded with beefy flavour and smoky char from the grill.

It’s served on a challah bun and folks can add an optional, but highly recommended gooey Merkt’s cheddar spread.

The Merkt’s cheddar burger is made of quality ingredients that border on being too bold but shows just enough restraint to be perfect.

One thing this dish definitely gets right is starting off with a high quality, fluffy but solid bun that is strong enough to hold in all the ingredients inside.

The patty is thick, juicy, and perfectly seasoned with a strong char flavour and surrounded by a perfect mix of ketchup, mayo, tomatoes, pickles, and delicious grilled onions. T

his is all bound together by plentiful amounts of cheese which help to hold everything together and create a very pleasing bite.

A simple idea, but very well executed.

In the U.S. there are burgers that you must have if you are to call yourself a hamburger gourmet.

We are not talking about burgers which you just slap together and throw on the grill.

We are talking about a sort of food revolution and just from their descriptions I want to reach out and grab a hold of one or two burgers at least.

These are the burgers that everyone can’t get enough of and they always come back for more. We have given you the top 10 in the windy city.
