The slopes for skiing and snowboarding are 4 kilometres and 8 lifts take you up the slopes. For those who would love to have Olympic experience, the slopes are 518 metres and 663 metres.

2. Blue Mountain Ski Resort

The Blue Mountain boasts the largest vertical drop of any ski area at 1,082 feet. It also has several trails that are of double-black-diamond rate.

These trails can accommodate skiers and boarders of all levels. The trails are open during the day and at night too, these are great for those who would want to be on the snow early.

3. Jack Frost Mountain

Jack Frost and Big Boulder are co-owned but have separate ski areas that offer very different ski experiences. The Jack Frost Mountain resort is more family and beginner-friendly.

The terrains on this mountain are ideal for training kids who will be under the supervision of skilled instructors. These instructors teach chairlift riding, stopping and turning.

There is a beginner terrain that the kids will be able to train on before proceeding to steeper trails. The resort has over 20 trails at about 2,000 feet and a vertical drop of 600 feet.

4. Camelback Resort

Camelback is a more popular resort for skiers and riders in the Poconos area. The resort sits on 160 acres of skiable terrain. There is a snowmaking machine that has good coverage and can be used at night.

The trails on this mountain are accessible to skiers of all levels. One can be on the slopes in New York to those in Philadelphia in less than two hours.

The 39 trails have a drop of 800 feet with advanced runs across the width of the mountain. Black and double black diamond runs make up a good chunk of the terrain on Camelback.

5. Shawnee Mountain Ski Area

This next resort is tucked in the heart of the Pocono Mountains and under two hours from Manhattan.

The mountain has 23 trails with a 700-foot vertical drop with snowmaking on every trail for great and pristine skiing throughout the season.

It is a family-friendly resort with terrain for everyone from beginners to professionals. Teen and younger children who would love to polish their skills will have an easy time at the mountain’s two terrain parks.

Skiing and tubing go on even after sunset on the lighter slopes. For a great time, you can use one of the six tubing hills open till late.

6. Elk Mountain Resort

The Elk Mountain Resort is located in Union Dale, Pennsylvania further north of the Poconos. This would be a great place to go for a weekend away from the city.

There are other several lodges and hotels nearby that you can rent for the time that you will be staying. This is however not the biggest mountain but makes up for that with its trails.

You will find old-school lifts and trails snaking through the woods as well and it is not as crowded as the other Poconos mountains.

Skiing on this mountain was first commercialized in 1959 and has undergone several renovations. They have a restaurant that serves after-ski drinks and food, there is also a kid’s menu.

7. Bear Creek Mountain Resort

Bear Creek Mountain Resort is an ideal place for beginner skiers or riders who would like to perfect their skills. It is a small skiing resort compared to all the others in the Poconos.

The trails are of different lengths, professional trails are longer and tougher while beginner trails are short and less steep. The training slopes for children are also available and great for learning.

It is one of the most loved ski resorts because all skiing amenities are available here. The slopes are perfect for snow tubing, boarding, and skiing.

8. Montage Mountain resorts

The Montage Resort has about 10 kilometres of slopes with five lifts that take skiers to the slopes. You can also try out the winter sports area if you would like a challenge.

This resort has one of the steepest slopes on the east coast with 226 trails spread over 400 acres of land. The resort was officially opened in 1984 and has had several improvements done while maintaining its old charm.

In case you do not have all the skiing equipment, do not worry because you can rent them at this resort. The resort uses green energy in all the lighting in the resort and on the mountain.

Montage Mountain has two terrain parks with jumps, rails, and features ranging from beginner to expert. Montage also has a gladded ski trail.

9. Roundtop Mountain Resort, Lewisberry Pennsylvania

This resort is known for its snowmaking, pristine trails and lifts, and a tubing park. Its 1300-foot elevation is perfect for beginners and families. Most of the slopes are rated easy.

They have a childcare service for children aged between 18 months to 12 years. The children are kept busy with fun activities such as craft making and are given snacks too.

10. Tussey Mountain Ski & Recreation

Lastly, we have the Tussey Mountain Ski and Recreation resort that is near State College. It is also home to Penn State’s ski team. This resort may be small and far out of town but is worth your time.

The 50-acre property has three ski and snowboard lifts, one snow tube lift and a snowmaking machine. The snow blowing covers a large part of the ski terrain.

Trails on this mountain are of the intermediate level therefore perfect for those who are skilled. There are 13 trails on Tussey Mountain with Little Bear having a beginner slope.

There is also a snow tubing area with up to 5 tubing lanes and one lift.
